About
Lake Doster Golf Club in Plainwell is ranked as one of the top 25 golf courses in Michigan. The layout has undulating greens and watered fairways that will test even the most experienced golfers. The course is home to the affectionately nicknamed "Little Monster," its third hole, which boasts a reputation as the toughest par 3 in the state. This infamous hole features a tee that sits high above a treacherous green that is surrounded on three sides by water and even further protected with three sand traps. The hole is also completely isolated thanks to the surrounding mature trees. There is another par 3 on the golf course that is almost as equally tough, the 15th. There is a pond to the right that is seemingly out of play but it's still intimidating enough to push you too far left, risking a landing in the sand trap.

Green could use verticut, need a ranger on weekends. Played 18 holes, took 6 hrs. Other then that the round was enjoyable.
Great value for the course
Doster is not extremely challenging, but you need to hit it well. The holes are secluded and it isn't a spray it and hope course. Some mowing issues on the green, but minimal. I will surely play again and often! Much better shape than many of the courses that charge $10-$15 more in the area
Nice Course in a Friendly Neighborhood
Great time, I loved the atmosphere here. I will definitely be back again. The staff was friendly, the members were friendly, they made my experience very enjoyable. The course was in great shape, the area had received heavy rain the day before I went. but it had dried out nicely
Some of the toughest greens to putt on.
This course is all time favorite for me. The layout is perfect and super challenging when the greens are fast. I've seen lots of people putt off the greens here.
Great scenic course
Very well laid out course. Has a couple challenging holes that require some shot placement.
course condition could reflect early date and not mid season form, like my game.
Lake Doster was a pristine course that has suffered some issues and is now in recovery. i will return later this season to see how they are doing.
Average is most areas.
The course is average as to layout, maintenance, and eye appeal. Has a couple of tricky and scenic holes but also had some damage to greens. Much nicer courses are available in the area.
Great Time on a great day.
Played at noon at Lake Doster. It was the first time to play 18 holes this year. The course was in great shape and a surprise as weather has really bad. Very few holders on the course when we started , so we were able to play as fast as we wanted.
Challenging course, No two holes run into one another, great layout.
Love playing this course every year. A fun place to play. Very pretty in the fall, great colors.
A nice challenging course that's pretty and interesting.
We played from the blues which made some of the par fours really tough. The greens were shaggy and the course was rather wet but that's because we had lots of rain for several days before the day we played.
Beautiful Wooded Course
The course provides a wide variety of holes going in all directions and usually isolated. The greens roll true and are swift challenging you to place your shot wisely. Often the course is not crowded resulting in an enjoyable pace of play. Lake Doster is a most enjoyable place to play
Course Condition - They are reseeding some areas.
Course is challenging but fair. We are lucky to have this course in our area. The food is high quality.
Beautiful course!
The course was in great shape and on the particular afternoon we were there we didn't have to wait at any of the holes. Very pleasant afternoon of golf!!!
Great Layout
This course has a great layout and is a real challenge while remaining fun to play. It would be an excellent course if it was maintained better, but it's a great value for the price.
Need all your shots
A friend was in town from Florida and I wanted him to see a nice course. Lake Doster is known around here as a real nice place with lots of challenges without being overly difficult.
Beautiful day and the course was in great shape considering the awful drought we've had here this summer.
Lake Doster is visually appealing and you might just use every club in your bag. My friend and his buddy were very pleased with the course which was the whole idea.
Will play Lake Doster every year and continue to take guests there.
Friendly staff too...........
