Great course
The course received 3" rain two nights before so it hadn't completely dried out but the traps, greens, fairways were in great condition. Occasional standing water but 3" rain will drench any course.
A fun easy course, forgiving, but not boring.
Wonderful and challenging course
On a weeks long golfing trip around Michigan, after playing round after round on resort courses , I wanted to find a local course that’s populist with those who live in the area . Found Charlevoix Country Club hot deal for $60 , and with some reward points played for $30!
Was pleasantly surprised . Played back tees at ~6500 yds. Some holes are rather uneventful, but some are real challenging . Several 200+ par threes with forced carries. Lots of smallish greens that demand precision guarded by woods, ponds , marshes. The last four holes are as tough a stretch as you’ll find anywhere , starting with 585 yard par five. 18th hole is a fantastic par 4 ( at least 420 yards into the wind ). I think it was one of my favorite par 4s anywhere I’ve played in Michigan and I was delighted with a bogey!
From more forward tees most golfers will find CCC to be quite accommodating with enough challenges to make it memorable. Staff was wonderful, pleasant pub .
Highest recommendation!
Great Course Ruined by Staff Attitude
We had a 6:50 AM tee time. The night before, we were told a range token would be left out so we could warm up and start on time. They forgot, so we arrived at 6:00 AM for nothing. While we were at the range ball dispenser looking for the token, a groundskeeper on a lawnmower drove by and made an exaggerated tongue-blowing gesture, like a mocking raspberry, as if to taunt us —an unprofessional and bizarre start to the morning. Then came the pro shop. The staff showed up late, and the shop didn’t open until 10–15 minutes after our tee time. When the attendant finally arrived, he dead-bolted the door, stayed inside for another 15 minutes, and then barked at us when we asked to pay and start—something we should have been able to do 20 minutes earlier. Paying $230 for a twosome to be treated like garbage is absurd. If you can’t open on time, don’t sell the tee time. What’s the point of a “nice” course when the staff is rude and unprofessional? The attempt to polish our clubs at the end was almost laughable given the disrespect at the start. If I ever play here again, it won’t be in the morning—but truthfully, I’ll do my best to avoid it altogether and play some place that values my business.
Great for nine holes or 18 holes
We just wanted to get a quick nine in and there was good availability during the week. Everything worked out great.
Always in good condition!
Nice course for the money. Found it on Golf Now as a hot deal.
Nice Option
Course was in good shape. Pace of play was excellent. Bring extra balls!
Very RUDE staff member
Very RUDE pro shop employee ( Mark). I’ve been playing golf for over 50 years and have NEVER seen such an UNPROFESSIONAL worker as he was. They were having an outing that day and the play was very slow. This put the afternoon tee times back by at least 30 to 45 minutes and the afternoon customers were not happy about it. Just because MARK wasn’t having a good day doesn’t mean he needs to be VERY UNPROFESSIONAL towards the customers. MARK should not hold any position which deals with customers, he makes the whole golf course look bad!!! The greens were just aerated which made them very poor to putt on. Tha course was in average condition. The pace of play was very good because the players wanted to get their round in before dark. I would not recommend this course to anyone until they make employee changes.
Great course for a quick play.
Well maintained course. Also, we love Don at the pro shop. Super friendly and welcoming.
Nice day on a nice course.
Overall good conditions for Mid-October. Greens had been punched ten days prior. Hard to hold and a little slow but rolling decent. About half the pins were in evil positions, maybe somebody was in a bad mood when they set them
Great place
Course was very well maintained
Staff was green…first group out in morning with foursome ..4 hour round for a buncha hacks 😎
Lots of Wildlife
Nice course. Got to see a deer crossing, sand crane watching us play and a squirrel steal a bright yellow golf ball and take it in the woods by his mouth. I think he thought it was a large nut. Lol. Anyways it was like scene from Caddyshack. Only wish I had time to take a video of it.
