Bruce Hills Golf Club
About
Bruce Hills Golf Course is located in the north metro Detroit area near Romeo. Mature trees are scattered throughout the course, providing shade and a peacefully secluded feel. The par-70 layout is relatively short at only 5,630 yards form the back tees, making it an ideal round for beginners but it still provides good practice and a quick round for more advanced players. The golf course sprawls across a diverse terrain that allows for downhill and uphill approaches to the small, round greens, which are often sloped from back to front. Keeping the ball below the hole is the key to scoring well on this golf course. Bruce Hills' player-friendly layout only has four bunkers but water comes into play on 12 holes, providing the bulk of the course's challenges.

Cart paths
Course is great in my beginner opinion. I've been playing for a few years but not a great golfer by any means but it's a great course. The cart pathways seem to not be taken care of nearly as well as the course but still a good course. I had fun. 9/10 would play again.
Great Local Course
Challenging course. Great pace of play. No. 12 with the woods on the left is always a little tricky.
not a pleasant experience
the course was overbooked. played 4 holes on the front nine and waited 7 to 10 minutes for every shot. went over to back nine and it looked o.k. Played 2 holes and caught up to the group ahead and tried to stay but it too was backed up. cart paths are in bad need of repair, if you stayed on them your teeth could come loose.
Hidden gem in Macomb County
Challenging course with many doglegs. Beautiful yet memorable 8th hole stands out. Very quiet and serene. Good value for money.
Can't beat $13
Couple holes have sprinkler head issues causing standing water problems. Greens in good shape. Pro shop guy always chippy.
pleasant experience
This is a very pleasant course with very nice greens. Good combo of easy and challenging holes.
Think twice
6:48a.m. t-time. Arrived 4 minutes late. One party on the t-box which had a later t-time than us. They were a foursome and us a twosome. We asked when they're t-time was and they told us it was later than ours and let us play. Great. OK no problem there. However the problem began when we walked through the door. We arrived 4 minutes late. And before the man behind the counter even checked to see if there was anyone on the t-box, proceeded to tell us "that if we were late again, he would have to fit us in whenever there was an opening, and that the course doesn't see any of the money form golfnow." For starters, there was one group already at the t-box, and when we asked them what they're t-time was, it was well behind ours. The counter help was very RUDE. Next, we keep pace of play, like to keep the game moving not wanting to lose momentum. We had players hitting up on us, as well as the course decided to start cutting fairways and greens around 8:30. We had to wait for grounds crew to finish cutting greens and fairways, as well as them waiting for us to leave the green. NOT a good experience at all. We have played this course before, and NEVER experienced this kind of treatment, however it has left us with the thought that this would be a last resort choice for courses to play, and there's alot of courses to choose from.
This course has great features with all of the water holes
I have played this course several times before so I am somewhat familiar with it. We both enjoyed it and I would absolutely play it again. It is just enough challenging with all of the water holes on the course.
unrealistic greens with some crazy pin locations
short course with some interesting holes, tee boxes and cart paths require maintenance.
the only real issue i have is the small domed greens.
you can hit a great approach shot, but due to the domed shape of the greens, the ball will roll off the green
depending on pin location if you misread a putt, the ball will roll off the green.
after 18 holes the greens lost their humor/character & were just annoying.
if you think you can putt & read greens this would be a good reality check.
I will never go back!!!
Bruce hills paired us up with a older 2 some, which is fine because I know they can do that, but what's not fine is lying to me. When I pulled up there was a lot of cars there, when I got in the club house I asked if he had an outing going on and they told me no and that they just had a lot of reservations. Bruce hills actually had us directly behind an outing. Every hole we waited 10-15 mins before teeing off. After 9 holes we just left, I couldn't deal with hitting then waiting so long. So the good price we paid on golf now for 18 and a cart turned into a horrible price for 9 and a cart.
The course greens and fairways were in good shape, but I will never go back no matter how cheap it may go. It's not worth waiting all day to play.
If you want to golf in the Bruce twp area I recommend going to heather hills. Great course great rate of play there
A true favorite.
Again, we had a great day at Bruce Hills. Always a pleasure to arrive and tee off on hole one when the dew is still on the ground..
Course was enjoyable. Could use some leveling on the tee boxes and the cart paths are really bumpy!
I found using the coupon on line very simple. However, I was quite disappointed upon arrival. It turns out that the course offers a weekday coupon for $16.00 for 18 and a cart. Golf now offered $20.00 for the same plus a 3.95 on line fee. The claim to save money was incorrect and I actually lost almost $12.00 on the "deal." Not Happy with this one!
A little short but still a challenge
The course was in good shape a little short but still a challenge..the greens were fast fairways were tight but the rough was not bad.overall a good course. Had a good time.
Good course but needs some attention
Ball cleaners at tee boxes are dry. Tee boxes are not level and pretty marred up. Need more room to move tee boxes around.
Difficult greens, well kept grounds.
This course was in great shape. It has some good scoring holes, but watch out for the tough reads on the greens. Beautiful scenery.
Nice course for the price
It is a very short course but some good hazard placements and a lot of dog legs makes up for it. Greens were really firm so good course management was a must.
Great Course
This course was beautiful. It was like a country club course. The only thing that upset me was that I reserved for 2 people and I had a buddy tag along and we were late for Tee Time. Since we had someone tag along they charged me an additional 4 dollars. I certainly understand business is business. This will not deter me from playing here again. They could have told me I lost my spot because I was 30 minutes late.
Good if you don't get stuck behind a large group/ outing
Pace of play was very slow, but I went off behind a large group. Overall time (3:45)wasn't too bad for 18 but this is a shorter course. (Almost every hole measured 20 yards shorter than listed on card) & I played the 2nd 9 in under an hour . First 9 took 2:45
Extremely Hilly
Every Hole had some sort of hill involved, whether it was teeing off a hill or teeing into a hilly fairway. The greens were slightly challenging. The course play was really slow, but it could of been because it was a Saturday, it was my first time playing there so i am not really sure if it is this slow on a consistent bases. The carts need some updating. overall great course for the price and would definitely play there again.
Harder than it looks
Greens have a lot of slope and roll smooth. Fairways were in great condition. Some very difficult holes if you can't drive the ball over 240 yards, but that makes the course a little jewel for a great day of golf.
Just because there are big groups does that mean their is an outing. When you book your time on golf now does it state asking if there is a golf outing there or not?? No you are on this website for discounted golf. Im on this website for the same reason. I also was there that same day and the pace of play was at 4 1/2 and 5 hours for that course is great being that there are alot of short holes out there. I guess your expectations are set to high then for being a 15-20 handicap guy. Anywhere you go on a Weekend expect a round of 4-5hrs at least courses that are busy. Hope you enjoy your rest of your summer and fall. Go Play lol
