Bruce Hills Golf Club

About
Bruce Hills Golf Course is located in the north metro Detroit area near Romeo. Mature trees are scattered throughout the course, providing shade and a peacefully secluded feel. The par-70 layout is relatively short at only 5,630 yards form the back tees, making it an ideal round for beginners but it still provides good practice and a quick round for more advanced players. The golf course sprawls across a diverse terrain that allows for downhill and uphill approaches to the small, round greens, which are often sloped from back to front. Keeping the ball below the hole is the key to scoring well on this golf course. Bruce Hills' player-friendly layout only has four bunkers but water comes into play on 12 holes, providing the bulk of the course's challenges.

Great day
Had a great round of golf with granddaughter ans soon to be husband. Staff was outstanding and very friendly. Food and drink selection was good. Course was in good condition and play was very good. Will definitely control play this course.
Bruce Hills
Easy online tee time web site. Extremely friendly staff. Course is amazingly challenging and well maintained. Play was a bit slow at times primarily due to golfers poor play. Food and drinks were reasonably priced. Looking forward to playing this course again.
Slow Play but course is in great shape
Corse is in great shape if you don't mind waiting at every tee box.... wait times between holes was terrible.
Course was in fairly good condition. Fairways were great, greens had a lot of ball marks that were not repaired. The thing bringing this section down was the tee boxes. Some were mostly sand, locations were undulated, and most in disrepair. Hardly a flat grassy area to be found to tee it up.
Staff was fantastic though, and super friendly.
Absolute Nightmare Experience
On Saturday, July 13, 2024, I booked a 2:24 pm Tee Time for 3 players (myself, my brother, and my nephew) and paid online. Visiting from Seattle, I was excited to treat my family to a round of golf. Unfortunately, our experience at Bruce Hills Golf Course turned into an absolute nightmare.
First, despite their requirement for reservations, the pro-shop employee allowed a single golfer without a reservation to play in front of us. The course was grossly overbooked, causing us to endure over two hours just to play 6.5 holes. By the time we reached hole 7, we were waiting over 20 minutes to tee off, only to see that the twosome ahead (one of whom was shirtless earlier) was still not on the green. This was the final straw, and we decided to quit in frustration.
As we drove back to the clubhouse, we saw a chaotic scene on holes 8 and 9: two foursomes waiting to tee off on hole 8, another foursome waiting on hole 9, and a twosome in the fairway. Shockingly, earlier in the day, we saw a sixsome playing ahead of us and a woman doing cartwheels in the fairway. This level of mismanagement and disregard for course etiquette is unacceptable.
When I approached the clubhouse employee to explain our dreadful experience and request a refund, I was met with a flat refusal due to their so-called "policy." I attempted to compromise by asking for a rain check for 3 rounds of 18 holes, but the employee stubbornly refused and only offered rain checks for 3 rounds of nine holes. He arrogantly claimed that on weekends, a round of 9 can take 2.5 to 3 hours and insisted that once a player touches the first tee box, no rain check for nine holes would be given.
This golf course is a disaster. The management is incompetent, the course is horrendously overbooked, and the staff is unhelpful and dismissive. I strongly advise anyone considering Bruce Hills Golf Course to avoid it at all costs. Save your money and sanity—this place is not worth the hassle.
5600 yards= 6 hour weekend round
My golf partner and I walked off the course after 9 holes. The pace of play was nearly 3 hours, which we felt for a short course with a low slope rating was borderline unacceptable. A ranger on the course stated that 6 hour weekend rounds are typical at Bruce hills. Not worth the $49 greens fees for that.
The “manager” was a total jerk to us!!!
We started off quite happy. The guy at the counter was very nice. We offered to do only 9 holes (July 4th) but he insisted we continue with our 18…..We did 9 holes….all was great…We asked again if he wanted us to go so he could too…He said “No, Just enjoy”. By hole #12 he was on us like flies on s##….accusing us of driving on the green (NO WAY THAT HAPPENED)….Had a lacky follow us and him too.. By hole #14 my son drove into the water….pulled it back line of flight and hit another WITH A PENALTY….THIS GUY..On us like flies on sh## AGAIN. Says “he can’t do that”…. We Left…Dont like to be followed and felt like criminals…..Not worth the $$$$ .VERY DISAPPOINTING.. WILL NOT GOLF HERE AGAIN. LIKE EVER.
Whew..
Way to many tee times..4 groups of 4 waiting on second tee...AWFUL!!!! PROBABLY WILL NOT PLAY THERE AGAIN NOT WORTH IT!!!!
Fathers Day debacle
Crammed way to many golfers for the course.. I get it gotta make $$$$$..but when you get to tee box and you are 4th group waiting ...NOT GOOD.,.. will not play there again!!!!!!!!!!!!...overall NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
Below Par for the cost
The course itself was in average condition and the pace of play was ok (4.75 hours for 18, 3 in our group). The course has a major problem on one 3 par hole with a large portion of the fairway cordoned off and no signs directing which way you should go around. It was very muddy and the cart almost sunk as we drove to the green. The women's bathroom was filthy and there was no toilet paper in one of the two stalls and it was not stocked the entire time we were at the course (5 hours). There were many groups making a lot of noise and playing boom boxes. For the cost I believe the conditions should be better.
