Bruce Hills Golf Club
About
Bruce Hills Golf Course is located in the north metro Detroit area near Romeo. Mature trees are scattered throughout the course, providing shade and a peacefully secluded feel. The par-70 layout is relatively short at only 5,630 yards form the back tees, making it an ideal round for beginners but it still provides good practice and a quick round for more advanced players. The golf course sprawls across a diverse terrain that allows for downhill and uphill approaches to the small, round greens, which are often sloped from back to front. Keeping the ball below the hole is the key to scoring well on this golf course. Bruce Hills' player-friendly layout only has four bunkers but water comes into play on 12 holes, providing the bulk of the course's challenges.

WORST managed course EVER
WORST managed course I’ve EVER played.
July 19, 2025 Saturday 10:08am tee time
Teed off at 10:15am.
3.5 hours for the front 9.
Bachelor Party and Work Outing in front of us. They let them go off in groups of 5 & 6. Slow terrible players. Ranger came out to check after multiple calls to the clubhouse. Started to argue with players for questioning their methods and timing.
Drunks in front of us WAY overserved. Falling out of their carts, laying on the greens. Drove THROUGH the tee box on 1 after finishing 9th home and the ranger did nothing about it.
Beautiful course ruined by terrible management and even worse players. Tank tops, tshirts, flip flops. True out in the middle of nowhere course that belongs staying that way.
Played the back 9 as a single. Players didn’t acknowledge or offer to allow to play through. NO etiquette shown or enforced on this course.
Wasted 5 hours playing there.
I’ve played 13 other courses this year. This BY FAR is the worst one of the year.
47/44 played fairly consistently.
Tee boxes were terrible. Felt like I was in a batter’s box so much dirt. Green’s inconsistency from one hole to the next fast then super slow. Standing water multiple places with no rain in the past few days
Every hole was backed up. Course was in horrible shape. Tore up everywhere. Paid for 18 but left after 9 holes because it was so bad
Great Course
Great experience . 18 complete in 3.5 hours. Parts of course were very wet. Fast greens
Leagues
When we made the turn we were met by a huge back up at hole 10 with leagues starting there. Staff told us to skip 3 holes. Would recommend tee times not be set that interfere with leagues.
Bruce Review
First time playing the course. Overall good experience and nicely maintained course which is not overly challenging but somewhat tricky on certain holes. We like playing there. Only issue we could not finish the last hole as there was an outing at the clubhouse and a significant amount of outing members practiced a hole in one challenge at this last hole.
Repair
The course was under repair all over the place. It's June, I thought it might look better. However, I know for the price, I should complain, but I did get a hot deal. At $40, it would have felt like an overpay.
Gotten worse every time I have played
Bruce used to be a go to course for me. Right down the road from my house I could be there in less than 15 minutes. I played what I hope to be my last round there today. The only thing worse than the greens and pin placements is the course management. The past few rounds I have played here there have been at least 2-3 greens that I have had to stop putting on because the hole placement resembles one seen on a greens keeper revenge challenge. 5-6 hour rounds are the normal here. It seems there are tee times that go off every 4 minutes which is far too short. Today I was stuck behind an employee that hopped on between two tee times. I paid for 18 holes and chalked it up as a loss after 9 because I couldn’t play there anymore. Such a shame since it is so close to home, but I won’t be playing here anymore unless I hear from someone that it has gotten significantly better.
Great value for money
Great combination of long and short holes. The toughest clearly are hole 7 and 14.. The 8th plays longer most of the time
The green speeds are slightly faster than last year but in reasonable condition
The tree line fairways forces you to keep the ball on the short grass
Starts off gently both front and back but then gets tougher
