Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Feels like an up north course
The course is very pretty, with plenty of woods and water. We walked the course and enjoyed it.
Grouchy Old Men
The course was nice and my hot dog tasted good. The big issue with going to Stony is the old men running the course. They are unwelcoming, slow at the register, and poor at managing the tee times and pace of play (5 hour 18 holes). I would only recommend if you find a good hot deal.
Tee boxes in rough shape. Very slow always
Love this course but the back 9 took over 3 hours. Wasn’t in the greatest shape. Tee boxes were embarrassing.
Course is in a good shape and has some challenging holes.
Like the way they maintain this course.
Course is fun to play with a lot of challenging holes.
I have a metro pass so I play it a few times a year.
Only drawback is if you don’t have a metro pass to enter the park it costs you more to play.
YSMoon
It is a very wide, long and naturally wonderful course. It is also good value for green fee.
The staff is rude
The older staff members at this course are all very grouchy. Specifically a gentlemen named John (gray beard and hair). I’ve golfed here several times and every single time he’s very rude and it seems like he doesn’t want people playing the course. I asked him what the rain check policy was, due to potential incoming storms, and he was trying everything within his power to not tell me. Other than this the course was fine.
Nice round
Course has that northern Michigan feel. Greens in great shape and senior pricing at 55 years of age
