Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

The staff is rude
The older staff members at this course are all very grouchy. Specifically a gentlemen named John (gray beard and hair). I’ve golfed here several times and every single time he’s very rude and it seems like he doesn’t want people playing the course. I asked him what the rain check policy was, due to potential incoming storms, and he was trying everything within his power to not tell me. Other than this the course was fine.
Nice round
Course has that northern Michigan feel. Greens in great shape and senior pricing at 55 years of age
Sooo slowww
Such a slow round. Multiple groups stacked on all tee boxes. Horrible course management. Rude workers. Don’t waste your money here.
Sixsomes
I have played here before was nice municipal course.however today tee’d of 3:36 sign up as single pair with two nice gentlemen. On first tee there was a twosome foursome and a twosome ahead of us. By the second tee the second twosome and foursome were now a sixsome. On the third green marshal spoke to them didn’t change anything. One of the sixsome came back to our group said” Listen we’re having a family outing. We’re not splitting up. We on the same page. I said whatever. Marshal came by again nothing change now I could see another gives a few holes ahead. Looked behind a couple holes there is another five some and another sixsome . Pretty sure will not play there again 3 hrs for 9 holes that I paid for 18. When I went in to ask if that was common the older not very friendly guy behind desk said it wasn’t allowed. then why didn’t marshal do their job and break them up or ask them to leave. Didn’t even offer to refund for 9 holes. There are other Municipal courses to play that will not allow 3 hr 9’s or six hour 18
Pace Of Play
Extremely slow play, we got through 6 holes in 2 hours.
Didn’t even get out and they wouldn’t give me a raincheck
When we arrived 30 minutes early they had no carts. 5 minutes before our tee time they had one. At this point there were 3 foursomes in front of us waiting. I went to ask for a raincheck, not a refund, and they said I can’t because I booked online. I said again I don’t want a refund. Said they can’t. I then tried to cancel on the golf now app but it said I couldn’t because of the offer. I figured that you wouldn’t and can understand that and your business model but the raincheck thing was a joke considering the circumstances above.
Disappointing as I had played there probably 30 plus time in my life and enjoyed it.
I don’t know if there is anything your team at GolfNow can due but I ate $138 rather than wait another 30 to tee off and lord knows how long for a 9 hole round at an obviously overbooked and poorly run course.
Thank you for the venue to voice my frustrations.
Fun track
Greens were in good shape. Fairways were also good. Tee boxes not so much but for a hack like me it was good enough. Great staff. Played in 4 hours so that was good. For a public course I would definitely choose this one above most. Greens were very tough to read. Who doesn't like a good challenge..
Good value and easy to play.
The course is in surprisingly good shape for a public of course. The greens were receptive and fast in the course conditions were good. The starter was excellent.
Course is very playable for all levels.
