Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Fast greens
This course is fun and very nicely conditioned, the only thing is the very fast greens if you land a ball and it bounces it will roll the whole way down, but that’s really it great course
Good course, poor pace
Course is in good shape and provides a fun challenge. However pace of play is horribly slow(6 hours+ for 18 teeing off at 8:30) and the started decided to put my 2some behind a very slow 4some even though our tee time was first. No ranger to maintain pace either when the course was clearly very busy. Would go back but only for first tee time of the day.
Place is a Swamp
This was my 4th time playing this course and I dislike it the more I play. Place is a swamp after moderate rain. more than half the greens and all the fairways were sopping wet. Many of the greens are extremely challenging (it's only redeeming value besides the grill). Maintenance of the course leaves much to be desired. Grass can't grow on the 17th tee. Committed to playing 6 more times this season. The inky course I will not return to after our commitment expires.
Slow day
Pace of play was very slow. No rangers on the course to keep groups moving. Bad when you have 4 foursomes waiting to tee off on the 1st hole. Some of the greens were not in good shape. The condition of the course was not bad
Horribly maintained greens and fairway way overpriced especially considering you have to pay to get into the parking lot
Great layout
I love how challenging this course is. I don't love the 8 minute tee times. Plan on a 6 hour round.
Don’t go on the weekends it’s so busy, took us 4 hours to play 9holes

Swampy and slow
Other than the pace of play (because they won’t put groups off on the back 9, even when there are four groups waiting on the 1st tee and they’re running two tee-times behind, and there’s no one coming up the 9th fairway) and some swampiness, it was great. Not much they can do about the weather, but 3+ hours for the front nine killed the ranking on this one…
Terrible
I understand it was the first wam day, but the pace of play was so bad we had to bail after 4 1/2 hours of waiting. We left after the 12th hole. Was on pace for a 6 hour plus round. It was cart path only, they shouldn’t allowed carts. People walking to the ball and back took FOREVER!!
Terrible service/ Business operation
They over book tee times and do not control pace of play , took 2 hours from our original tee time to get to hole 2. They let anyone just walk up and play even though we had a tee time. We asked for a voucher for 9 holes which he denied because we had already gotten in line however the policy stated that you can be refunded if you play less then 3 holes. Do not come here on weekend especially because you won’t be able to play . They just send Elementary school kids walking on there own that don’t understand pace of play . Ridiculous.
Nice Metro park course. I will be back!
Very nice staff. I liked the layout of the course. It was my first round of the year, so I will be interested in checking out the course conditions when the weather is nicer, but we had a great time.
