Hate the new golf carts
Number one reason I will no longer play Elmbrook or recommend it is; the new golf carts! They are so restrictive that it made the entire golf day frustrating. The carts are equipped with gps and AI mapping of the course. You do not have freedom of speed, direction, or the ability to drive where ever you need to on the
course. It shuts the cart off if you deviate even a bit from its parameters.
Second reason; the course was overbooked. We paid for 18 and should have had plenty of time, but only played 9 holes in 3 hrs.
The staff is friendly and the course is in good shape.
Too bad the managers ruined it with the carts!
Pace of play
I used to love this course. But they now overbook every time and it is just unplayable. We had to leave after 13 holes because there was two groups of six in front of us and they wouldn’t let anyone pass. It took over five hours to play 13 holes. I would like my money back.
Groups of 6
They let 2 groups of 6 tee off in front of us. We got through 13 holes before calling it quits because it just took way too long. Will never be back
Slow and long
Asked the owner if we could go off the back 9 because the group in front took 25 minutes to play the first hole. She said they would let us play through. They did not for the whole front 9 so we drove around them on hole 11 after it took 3 hours to play the front 9.
Nothing special
Simple back and forth track. Slow play. Very crowded. Hardpan fairways. Fast bumpy greens.
Great condition
Over the years, Elmbrook’s condition has varied. Right now it is in great shape. Both fairways and greens have been well taken care of. Some tee boxes were in rough shape but like the new tee box for #12.
Fun and different - greens were tough
I think I lost 1 ball on the 1st tee and then kept it the whole rest of the round which for me is a great metric to how open the course is and playable. Some tough driving holes out here where things could go very wrong. The little yardage book on the cart is a helpful tool if you use it. I appreciate they tried to line you up with guides like on the par 5 13 with the numbers on the trees. Good idea.
Greens just had my number all day, a bit windy too on some of the holes up top with the views. Love the views for sure of the bay. I couldn't gauge the speeds well, when they were fast, they were super fast and when I was up hill I just couldn't bring myself to hit it hard enough so then I'd come up short. Really good test here and great option in the TCity area.
Hole 15 and 16 were fun and different but I wish they weren't back to back. Back to back short par 4, just weird to have in that home stretch back to back.
Good course but slow play
The course was well maintained but it was filled with elders who didn’t maintain the pace of play which ruined the game vibe
Alright
It was an average course to play. The course was in fair condition, but for the money it wasn’t bad. We got backed up the whole entire back 9 because of a huge outing or something. The lady at the front counter didn’t seem to want our business, I walked in and somebody was talking to her casually and didn’t pay any attention to us for about 5 minutes until the guy that was casually talking to her moved out of the way. Overall it was an average course to play. I loved the course layout though, it had so many different lies and the greens were so fast which made it harder, also if you’re a woman, this course is set up great for you off the tee. It seemed like a country club atmosphere, but no beer cart or anything.
