The Timbers Golf Course
About
Timbers Golf Club is situated just 10 minutes from Frankenbluth in Vassar, a town that is known for its great shopping. Though you might look at the 133-slope rating and pass it off as a "resort course," it would be a mistake to underestimate this golf course. It starts with a challenging front nine that features tight fairways and tricky doglegs. There are also several marshes scattered through and water comes into play on seven holes. At 3,141 yards, Timbers' front nine will put your short and mid-iron skills to the test while the back nine is a little longer at 3,454 yards. There are considerably more sand bunkers on the back. Be sure to build up your score on the par 3s and par 4s because the tough par 5s are sure to swallow a few shots.

The Timbers
I enjoy playing this course very much. A few of the greens had rough patches. The clubhouse had few choices for lunch. Staff were extremely friendly. Facilities were clean.
Great course
Very nice course to play me and my guys always look forward to the challenge of play that comes from this course.
Good course, Greens need work
Front 9 play was fast back was horrid slow. Multiple(3) groups on 1 tee on back. Decent overall.
Wouldn’t Recommend
Course was in tough shape - clearly understaffed! No food available - very slim drinks available - no starter - felt very disorganized.
Enjoyable Course
Course is in great condition. Staff and other clients were friendly.
An excellent golfing experience, except for the lack of dress code enforcement.
Had a wonderful time golfing the Timbers as usual. The “Senior “ club champion and his threesome played in tee shirts and athletic shorts. I thought they were grounds keeping personnel until they parked in their reserved assigned parking spaces. This is something I would expect at a low end Municipal course. Come on guys, respect the game.
Bad Season
I play this course every summer when I visit from Scottsdale. It’s always my favorite. Unfortunately this season I paid almost double the price as past seasons and the fairways and greens were in terrible condition. I’ll be back, but I hope the conditions will be better like past seasons
Senior club Champion.s threesome sheds a bad light on the course.
First I want to state that I absolutely love playing “ The Timbers.” My partner and I were passed by an SUV at a high rate of speed before pulling into the parking lot. As I parked we saw the “Speeder” pull into the senior Club Champion parking space. He wouldn’t make eye contact as unloaded his SUV. He was joined by two other members of his threesome. All three of them were wearing tee shirts and athletic shorts. They quickly drove up to the first tee box and teed off. These three are obviously members because they parked I the three assigned parking spaces. I golf three to four days a week around the state . The appearance and attitude of these three “Members” sheds a bad light on the Timbers as a whole. I’ve always had great interactions with the staff and employees of the Timbers and I will continue to give them my business.
Club Champion
We had a twosome and got stuck behind the Sr. club champion and the club champion. They had a threesome and hurried to the first tee box. We pulled up to the tee box right after they teed off. We had to skip hole two so we could get in front of them.
Great course
Great course and wonderful staff. Only disappointing part was the weather. We were only able to get 15 holes in before it poured. We will play the course again when we are in the area.
Keep working at it
There has been new ownership that has taken over. It looks like it had not been taken care of the last couple of years. But you can see there's progress. Great layout tee boxes need some tlc.
But for the price it was great.
I will go back again
A good round cut short by inclement weather.
I play this course there to four times a month. I made it through 9 holes today before Mother Nature opened up with all of her fury. My only complaint was the weather which is out of our control. I’ll be back it’s a lovely course and my fellow golfers allowed me to pass them as I played as a single. I highly recommend the Timbers . You won’t be disappointed. It’s well worth the 30 mile drive from my home.
