The Timbers Golf Course
About
Timbers Golf Club is situated just 10 minutes from Frankenbluth in Vassar, a town that is known for its great shopping. Though you might look at the 133-slope rating and pass it off as a "resort course," it would be a mistake to underestimate this golf course. It starts with a challenging front nine that features tight fairways and tricky doglegs. There are also several marshes scattered through and water comes into play on seven holes. At 3,141 yards, Timbers' front nine will put your short and mid-iron skills to the test while the back nine is a little longer at 3,454 yards. There are considerably more sand bunkers on the back. Be sure to build up your score on the par 3s and par 4s because the tough par 5s are sure to swallow a few shots.

Enjoyable Course
Course is in great condition. Staff and other clients were friendly.
An excellent golfing experience, except for the lack of dress code enforcement.
Had a wonderful time golfing the Timbers as usual. The “Senior “ club champion and his threesome played in tee shirts and athletic shorts. I thought they were grounds keeping personnel until they parked in their reserved assigned parking spaces. This is something I would expect at a low end Municipal course. Come on guys, respect the game.
Bad Season
I play this course every summer when I visit from Scottsdale. It’s always my favorite. Unfortunately this season I paid almost double the price as past seasons and the fairways and greens were in terrible condition. I’ll be back, but I hope the conditions will be better like past seasons
Senior club Champion.s threesome sheds a bad light on the course.
First I want to state that I absolutely love playing “ The Timbers.” My partner and I were passed by an SUV at a high rate of speed before pulling into the parking lot. As I parked we saw the “Speeder” pull into the senior Club Champion parking space. He wouldn’t make eye contact as unloaded his SUV. He was joined by two other members of his threesome. All three of them were wearing tee shirts and athletic shorts. They quickly drove up to the first tee box and teed off. These three are obviously members because they parked I the three assigned parking spaces. I golf three to four days a week around the state . The appearance and attitude of these three “Members” sheds a bad light on the Timbers as a whole. I’ve always had great interactions with the staff and employees of the Timbers and I will continue to give them my business.
Club Champion
We had a twosome and got stuck behind the Sr. club champion and the club champion. They had a threesome and hurried to the first tee box. We pulled up to the tee box right after they teed off. We had to skip hole two so we could get in front of them.
Great course
Great course and wonderful staff. Only disappointing part was the weather. We were only able to get 15 holes in before it poured. We will play the course again when we are in the area.
Keep working at it
There has been new ownership that has taken over. It looks like it had not been taken care of the last couple of years. But you can see there's progress. Great layout tee boxes need some tlc.
But for the price it was great.
I will go back again
A good round cut short by inclement weather.
I play this course there to four times a month. I made it through 9 holes today before Mother Nature opened up with all of her fury. My only complaint was the weather which is out of our control. I’ll be back it’s a lovely course and my fellow golfers allowed me to pass them as I played as a single. I highly recommend the Timbers . You won’t be disappointed. It’s well worth the 30 mile drive from my home.
Challenging layout, friendly staff.
Had a great time, course was in overall very good condition. Friendly staff and a great price. Will definitely play again.
Challenging Course-Close to Frankenmuth
Nice course, great layout. My only complaints would be a few greens had bare patches as did the tee boxes. They allowed a six some time play behind us which should not be allowed. Other than that, this is a good course we will play again when visiting Frankenmuth.
Tactical layout and in great shape.
The course was very well maintained and presented plenty of interesting challenges. Due to the overall layout I didn’t use my driver as often as I do on most other courses.
Great condition but slow play!!
Course was in very good condition despite the little rain we have received lately. The pace of play was very slow. Over 5 hours to play 18 on a Monday afternoon. Course could have used a ranger to push some groups along.
Golf
I made a tee time on golf now for Timbers and I’m glad I did because had I known the conditions of course I wouldn’t have paid full price. I know times are tough but 49 bucks for that course is way too high for how bad of condition the course was in. Played one of my best rounds this weekend so I can’t complain there but I played here back in May and this course was immaculate to what it is now and this is prime time golf season for Michigan. I’ve been playing here the past 3-4 years and this is the only time I’ve had a complaint.
Decent Course needs a little TLC but fun day!!
Course is decent for sure. No where near The Fortress but at the right price it’s a decent little layout. They need to water the greens and course. Too many dead areas. Greens were a bit shaggy and sluggish but still a nice day on the links.
Wish they would have watered
Course is extremely dry. Several holes had brown or dead grass fairways. I dont know if they will get it back this year. Greens were in good condition but were not mowed that day and were very slow. The pro shop, marshal and the restaurant staff very nice and accommodating.
First time playing The Timbers
This was my first time playing at The Timbers and I have to say...I was not disappointed. I bought this round through Group Golfer at $19 for 18 with cart. The clubhouse was a little sparse as far as stock. The staff that I encountered were all very friendly from the gentleman behind the counter to the young lady raking the bunkers. This course is in good overall condition. The fairways were well taken care of. The greens were in very good condition. There were a couple of "burnt" spots here and there but nothing that directly affected play. The bunkers all had actual sand in them and not the gravel mix you come across now and then. I did notice some of the tee boxes were in need of some TLC. The course layout was fantastic. I loved the fact that I had to plan some of my shots according to the dog legs or positioning of bunkers. The cart paths are all paved and in great condition. Lots of paths winding in and out of the woods and going over wooden bridges. I would definitely go back and play again! Thanks for a great experience!
