A fun course to play
Antrim Dells has all the elevation change a golfer could want. The first tee is a beautiful, easy downhill par 5. After that, it gets a little more difficult. The greens roll true and have some wicked breaks. I'm giving this course 4 stars because of the conditioning. There were quite a few wet spots and some of the tee boxes were a little questionable, with no stairs on a couple that should have them. Other than that, this course is a fun trip up and down the natural, glacier-carved land. It's a challenge that golfers in the area should take!
Old School NoMI favorite
Affordable and fun the Dells has plenty of hills dales and wonderful NoMI views. Some minor skunk damage to turf on the opening holes and #2 fairway was still pretty wet. That being said refer to my review dated 6/5/17 - nice conditioning and greens featuring more slope than you think. After 25 years plus of playing this track I never complain if our group wants another round here. Dave Hill one of the owners has turned this place around and it's under constant improvement - even the restaurant that features a wonderful bay view. Back nine is wonderfully routed and challenging. 4 stars.
Nice course!
Really nice course even though it was still wet in spots from the longest winter ever!
gorgeous views of Lake Michigan!
Beautiful and challenging course. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Good eats too.
Antrim Dells is back !
I've played this course for a number of years and have never seen it in better shape than it is now. This course was designed by Jerry Matthews and has hosted the Michigan Amateur along with another Michigan classic Belvedere. A fair test of golf with some of the sweetest greens in Northern Michigan. Kudos to the entire staff !
This is one of the local's favorites. Great dining room overlooking Lake Michigan sunsets.
Dells is playing dry and fast
I've been playing Antrim Dells for 25 years now almost at least one time each year. Course is in very good shape and well maintained. Dave Hill is doing an outstanding job after moving over from Grandview in Kalkaska.
An old school track the front nine is wide open and you really need to pay attention on approach shots as it's playing hard and fast......play to left side of green on 1st and 2nd holes and right side on the green on the 4th and 6th holes. Your approach shot on the 9th should be aimed at the hillside rock and even left of it. The back nine is extremely picturesque and much more treelined with two strong par 5's and a nice uphill finishing hole which needs to be played down the left side to hold the fairway and another left side approach shot to a large hilltop green. Nice views of the bay from the clubhouse 1st/10th tee boxes. The normally wet areas on #2, #7 and #11 are not an issue this season. We played the front nine again on 6/11 almost a week later and experienced same consistent conditions. As part of the A-Ga-Ming portfolio Dells is well managed and a very good value. A recommended play!
Best shape I've ever seen the Dells in
Ag-a-ming management is really taking care of this old school NoMi gem. Maintenance was top notch. The 7th fairway has come back from the dead and mgmt is doing their best to take care of several swampy areas that have plagued the course conditioning for years. That being said it's a $30 or $40 dollar course at most. Fairly wide open on the front and the course gets considerably tighter on the wooded back and routing/interest of that back nine keeps me coming back. Nice views of the bay from 1st and 10th tee boxes. Has has some large greens with good speed and some with significant undulation. Thankfully we teed off on the back nine first so pace of play wasn't much of an issue for us. A nice 310 round. Definitely worth a play if other area courses are crowded....note I've played at this place many many times over the past two decades and it's continued to get better with the new mgmt.....
Antrim Dells
We played this course for the first time last week and plan to play it again tomorrow before we leave the area. A beautiful course and fun to play. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and welcoming.
Antrim Dells has two different 9s, the front is more open and the back is wooded.
Antrim is a favorite of locals and yearly visitors. The course is a challenge, but is not too hard for the novice. The new staff - part of Agaming has done a good job keeping the good points while adding some improvements.
