I didn't check in personally since I had my playing partner check in and get the cart key. The course itself is entirely across the street from the clubhouse, which makes a quick stop at the turn not a quick stop. Basically the course was what I expected for a small town course. Lot's of people in the clubhouse eating and drinking, which is good for the course. No GPS on the carts. No sprinker heads with distances so it was a guessing game for yardage distances. The greens were rolling a nice fast pace. Way too ball marks on the greens that weren't being repaired. Basic cart, no frills and again no GPS. First time playing the course so as with every course, course knowledge is key. Had a good time with my buddy, which was nice. The course signage was was good so we knew where to go. It's a 1 1/2 drive for me so it's not a destination course for me for that long of a drive. I'll probably play it again but most likely not for quite a while. If you live in the west to northwest suburbs of the Twin Cities, then the hour or so drive might be worth it.
Enjoyable challenging round
First time playing this course and it was in very good condition. The greens were in great shape and rolled smoothly. It appears most people are repairing ball marks which is appreciated. The layout was more challenging for me because I don’t draw the ball and there are a lot of dog-leg left holes. Only problem was pace of play right from the start, finishing the round at 4:45.
Monticello Country Club is 5 star!
This course is really fun to play. Lots of tree lined fairways to keep you honest. The greens roll really well, and the staff is awesome.
It's a semiprivate course, so a lot of times we've been paired up with members., They are always welcoming and friendly, Like Joe and Dan, and great golfers besides. Play it if you get a chance.
Jeff, Dylan, and Ai love this place!
Awesome track
Great layout and course was very good condition, even after several inches of rain a day or two prior.
Diamond in the Rough
The greens roll true and can be tricky on your approach. Green side bunkers could be better as they are currently very compacted and it is like hitting out of compacted dirt with little to no chance to a good shot. Layout is challenging with a lot of mature trees if your shots wander out of the fairway. Pace of play is great and able to play 18 with a cart in 3-3.5 hours. No drinking water on the course but a beverage cart does make it around quite often.
Beautiful course!
Beautiful lengthy layout. The groundskeeping crew has done an amazing job for the condition of this course so early in the year. Will definitely play again.
Beautiful Fall Day
Conditions ideal, a quiet beautiful Thursday and yet my game was still the same. Barely average. Will gladly return again and again.
