Milham Park Municipal Golf Course
About
Situated on the southern edge of Kalamazoo, Milham Park Golf Club borders its namesake park. This municipal course is one of the best in the city, boasting some of the best conditions of any of the area's golf courses. Originally opened as a nine-hole course in 1931, the second nine was added as a project under the Works Project Administration in 1935. The course has a traditional layout that is seemingly short by modern standards at 6,630 yards from the back tees. Don't let the yardage fool you, Milham Park offers many holes with good length. The layout is heavily bunkered and there are tall trees along the fairways. Water is nowhere to be found except for a mild hazard that edges along the fourth hole.

Slow
Don't come here if you are trying to play 18 in under 5 hours. Old ppl refuse to let you play through. Played 9 in 2 and a half hours. Course is ok for a city course. Prices are to high for the quality.
Milham Park GC
Weather is obviously key this time of year for course conditions..a lot of places are in decent shape right now and Milham Park also has their place in very solid order. The greens here are in incredible shape right now. Driving range is sufficient; definitely an old school feel in some corners of the course. If you play the back tees and you're driver isn't going 260+ there will be several approach shots from around 200 yards. Solid practice putting green near the clubhouse and the fairways are very playable.
Good course for all
This course has some fairly easy holes, some moderate holes, and some very challenging holes. Overall condition of course was fairly good, but playing in the fall you always have leaves to contend with.
If you play here, plan to play slow
We played a 4-some, and because it's fall, we looked under the leaves more than once for our balls. i live in Kalamazoo, but seldom play at Milham. Milham is know for slow play, and they do nothing about it. Even when they have a starter, nothing is ever said about keeping pace. Members regularly cut in on players making the turn. Even after "playing the back nine", they make no attempt at keeping pace. Seldom have I witnessed a slow group letting anyone play through. a nice place to play if you play better at a 5 hour pace.
Good layout, great deal
course was in good shape, fairways shaggy but not burnt anywhere, greens were very receptive and had great contours. Some tricky putts out here! Unfortunately we played on errified greens, so pretty sandy, ithe others there said the greens are normally excellent so i will play again soon. Tight tee shots old muni, small target greens but they have character. Will be back!
Great course for the $$
Great course! Close to home and good price. Don't lose to many balls here.
Course location
Great course, nice greens. Located close to several different towns. Which is a plus.
great city owned course
Always in good shape greens are fast but fair and course is in great shape fun to play
Awesome
I would consider this my "home" course. Great fairways, beautiful greens. Provides difficulties for both amateur and advanced players but very playable for both. Staff is great and friendly.
Great course, slow play
I have played Milham Park before and always enjoy the round. This is an ideal course to walk but cart was included so we road. The greens were good, fairways were perfect and the rough was long. My only complaint was the pace of play. Tee time was 12:20 on a Sunday, did not complete round until 5:30. We had a sandwich before we played and they were great. I would recommend this course to all.
Ehhh
Very poorly treated by an older staff member when my friend and I were trying to locate the starter. He was not at his post or near the #1 tee, so we asked inside. The older gentleman running the counter brushed us off and told us to just go look around. Seriously?
Greens themselves were okay putting-wise, but in poor shape, appearance-wise.
Great time
Fist time here and I was very happy with the round. The staff was very cordial and friendly which is very important to me. We ended up missing our tee time as the starter kindly worked us into the tee box when he didn't have to. Very top notch service.
nothing special
First time playing this course. Just a typical flat course nothing special. there's no signature holes to make it challenge or fun.
Great Course
This course is less than a mile from I-94 and a great place to play. Greens in excellent shape. Pace of play is average. Tee boxes and fairways in excellent shape.
Older course, walkable, nothing tricky but nice.
Course in good condition particularly given the time of year. Greens were nice and smooth. Overall pleased with the experience.
Nice layout, greens are challenging
Realizing that it is the end of the season, yet I was still disappointed as we had to wait for carts to be returned, so we teed off 25 minutes late, mostly due to allowing open golf to tee off too close to our scheduled tee time. Then not having a ranger to help facilitate play as the aforementiond foursomes had no golf ediquette or sense of urgency and were horribly slow. I have played at this course numerous times, it always is a pleasure, but this time it was just awful due to their inability to keep things moving at a moderate pace.
one of best public courses in Michigan
great value. As owned by the city, profits go to maintain and improve the course.
Always enjoy playing here
Conditions were good. Staff was friendly and happy!
Getable course from fairway, punching trees in rough.
This is a very fun course to play. I've shot everywhere from a 46 to 55 on each nine (26 handicap). If you play in the fairway you can easily attack the greens with your irons, but if you get into the rough you can play underneath a ton of trees requiring you to risk going low or pitching out into the fairway and losing a stroke. The greens have enough slope to be challenging but allow for makable long putts. The first two holes are a hard start (Par 5 #3 handicap and Par 4 #5 handicap) but the course eases up a bit from there.
The value for the course is unbeatable for the area. The only issue is that if you play midday you are going to get stuck behind lots of amatuers which will slow your round down greatly. The best bet is to get to the course early morning to beat the crowds.
