tough and rough
I've played this course in the past, and must say I was surprised at how bad of shape the course was in. Fairways were brown and burnt, and the greens were in terrible shape. This has a layout of being a beautiful 27 hole course, but they really have their work cut out to bring it back up to the beautiful course I remember playing last year.
The course was in poor condition
The meadows 9 were in at best poor condition. The fairways were burnt out and brown and the greens were worse.
The lakes 9 were better than the meadows but not much.
They need to invest money into the whole course.
The course has good bones but is in miserable condition.
What to play first
Play meadows first then go to lakes or woods. Lakes too difficult coming out of the car.
Make sure you have some cash!!!
Course is located in Camp Dearborn. There is a $2 charge to get into the Park. Overall course is in good condition but some of the green's on the Lakes 9 have some rough patches. Lakes side has a current problem with Geese. Droppings everywhere including a couple greens covered in Droppings. Still a great round for the price on golfnow. Would have been aggravated with the condition of the Lakes if I had paid full price!!
list of local favorites
I've played "lakes", 'woods" and "meadows". Each is different and challenging in a unique way from the other 2. Whichever combination of 18 makes for a nice round. There are a few greens on the lakes that are under needed repair but nothing to complain about
Chase
Great fun and 27 holes. It feels like up north on some of the woods. Great place close to home
Lots of different types of holes.
Nice course would play again. Greens are in great condition with good pin placements. The ranger is very friendly and helpful.
this course has great features and scenery
The meadows is fun and exciting and the lakes a bit more challenging but beautiful scenery and an all around great time
beautiful course over all
The back nine lakes is very beautiful and challenging. The Meadow (front nine) is nothing special.
play the Lakes
This goes from a 4 star to 3 star course if you don't play the Lakes nine. The other two are OK, but the Lakes is the one that really stands out, with water on almost every hole and in place on multiple shots on many of them.
mystic creek
Beautiful scenic golf course with a great clubhouse
Hit Your Spots
"The Lakes" is a shot makers course. Very tight fairways with a lot of water often to the right so any fad often results in a lost ball.
Very beautiful course, even tougher I. The wind.
Very scenic course
We enjoyed playing this course. The overall conditions were excellent. Water hazards on almost every hole made for a challenge. The rough was short enough to find stay balls not hit into the water. My wife and I will recommend this course to friends.
The course was great but slow play
The pace of play was terrible. The starter said the average time for a round of golf was over 4 1/2 hrs. The starter rushed us off the tee and after that the round went downhill from there. We got placed behind a group of golfers that played from the blue tees but should have been playing form the white tees. And we got held up at every hole on both nines that we played.
Mystic Creek
This is a great course with a fantastic layout in mid-Michigan. The layout was scenic and the course is in great shape.
Poor customer service - no rangers in sight
The day started on a bad note when one of my playing partners tried to use a coupon for the course. The coupon was not expired, and had no terms or conditions on it. It wasn't a large dollar amount, but the attendant said because of new course management, only new coupons would be honored. Didn't offer to give any sort of concession. When someone who looked like they might be a manager overheard the conversation, the response was rude and unwavering. Despite the terrible customer service, we started our round and waited on every hole. We didn't see one ranger on the course monitoring pace of play, let alone asking slower golfers to keep pace with the group in front of them. Just a very poor job by the course manager of keeping an appropriate pace of play.
The course was in pretty good condition, especially given the harsh winter we had this year.
Overall, I was disappointed in the customer service and pace of play, which is why I won't be back, and won't be recommending this course to my friends. I had played here 5 or 6 times before and have generally had positive experiences. Unfortunately this bad one is enough to make me change my mind.
Not really worthwhile
Used to be a decent course many years ago but not the case these days. Good deals can be had on GN but be prepared to shoddy tee boxes and weeds all over the place. Greens roll ok but you're better off elsewhere.
course condition
this course was fun to and a little intimidating on the first hole of the Lakes course. After that the holes open up a bit and it was easier to see were to hit the ball. My problem with Mystic Creek was that the Teeing grounds were in bad condition, the greens were great, the fairways were in good condition, but the tees were terrible, could not find an area to tee the ball. Grass was sparse and dry and if there was grass it was long and shaggy.
Mystic Creek
The course was in better shape than several I've play so far. The greens are in good shape with very little winter burn. Other courses I've played thus far have serious green issues with many unplayable. Very pretty course.
Course was in great shape. A great value for the money. Pace is good.
I play a lot of good to great courses in SE Michigan. This course is a good value for the money. The pace is pretty fast. I like to play under 4 hours with a foursome. Has that
Northern Michigan feel.
