Solid Bargain
This is a reasonably priced course that is fun to play with some well designed water holes. The tee boxes are always a touch hard and man oh man is there a lot of geese but the price is pretty fair for the experiene.
Had 11:51 tee time. Didn't get to tee off till 12:25. Singles playing and not paired up. No Marshall see all day. People cutting in front from other fairways playing extra holes.
Low expectations = a fun round of golf!
You get what you pay for.
It’s a goat track but the owner Walt is a great guy who tries very hard. The staff is nice.
It’s a fun place to hack it around for 4 hours. IF you are a serious golfer please adjust your expectations or just stay away. 😄
I’ll be back!
Terrible
Rude staff. No fairways. Staff member forced me to hit into golfers in front of me. Ended up going about 20 yds past them thankfully. Unless it's your 1st year golfing, I would not play this course.
Weather made for bad course conditions
Lot of the course was flooded, mud all over. Need to try going again when weather is better. That was my bad.
Understanding
I’ve played this course multiple times through the last few months. Especially as a newer golfer it’s an easy course to remember, pace of play can be hit or miss but my most recent time it was great, not very long waits on tee times, or anything. Clubhouse check in was easy and quick, does looks like they were trimming some branches and had a lot of leaves around but course was in decent condition for what I expected. I would come back and play, and usually do with multiple friends, it isn’t as top tier as a private club, but for something on the cheaper side, it isn’t a bad deal for a round of 18. Greens were great this time around but have played when they punched and sometimes can be slow. I have developed the tendency to play first thing in the morning which seems to be the best.
Early morning round
We started just after sunrise and had an enjoyable round, although we did have to battle the wind a bit. The tee boxes were very dry and not in that good a shape. The course was also very dry (not unexpected for this time of year) and allowed for a lot of run after the ball hit. Best part of our round was my son getting a hole-in-one on #14 (over the water). Made it a very exciting round for both of us!!
Decent course
As you can see from the date I played late in the season and they were winterizing trimming trees so there were piles of branches around a lot of trees. I fortunately never hit my ball in any of the piles. The greens were still good the fairway’s were brown but it’s October so I don’t mind. The view of the bluffs across the meremac river was beautiful. The pace of play was amazing. I was in a group of 3 and we played 18 in 4 hours and 15 minutes. This place does NOT over book like some course do. It’s not the best course in area but it’s fairly close reasonable. If you want to spend 60$ a round you can find nicer courses.
Over Charged
I booked a trip for 13 guys to play. I was told to book four tee times. I had a couple players back out and on the day of play they forcibly charged my credit card for 14 people (of which there would have only been one player, we were going to play as a 3x3x3x4). Then they ended up pushing a 2 some into our group after making us pay for 4 more tee times than people. Shady to say the least, been golfing there for over 20 years. I won't be back.
Riverside
All was good. I would recommend more work on the tee boxes. Greens were in decent shape and slow. Had a good round.
Worst Course in DFW
Save yourself the money, headache, frustration, and possible heat stroke. These mor0ns decided to go part path only in August in Texas. This slowed the pace of play down for a twosome to almost 6 hours. There’s almost no shade anywhere and the river has taken out portions of the course. When I told the guy in the clubhouse that they should rethink the cart path only rule (maybe 90 degrees?) This slick pr1ck says, “well there’s actually a really good reason for that, we have to take care of the course.” First, that lets me know where taking care of the players stands and… Second, have you seen the course? Take care of what? Judging by the clubhouse, I assume they can’t afford to water. Horrible course.
Clipboard Tool
This place has an overall friendly staff, but the guy running around with the clipboard and tee sheet could settle down a bit. The attitude about teeing off on 10 immediately is unnecessary considering we were stopping at the turn to use the restroom and SPEND MONEY in your snack bar. We didn’t have to do that. If you’re so “backed up” then maybe try scheduling things a little better and not cram so many tee times in at once. Don’t try to run an overall poor quality course like it’s a posh private club.
The cashier at check in was very nice and the girl at the snack bar was very friendly and courteous.
