Great course
Overall fantastic course especially for the price to play. Staff is great! Course conditions are good and progressively getting better everyday.
A Lovely Golf Experience at Florissant Golf Club
Our foursome plays a different course every month. It had been years since we last played Florissant. The course is maturing nicely. The staff is friendly and efficient. Pricing is favorably competitive. It was a beautiful day to play and we enjoyed the experience.
Good course for pay
There were a few places where the course needed work but overall fairways and greens were in decent shape..course layout was open and pace of play was good..first time playing here and would go back
Good value course
Overall the course is in good shape. As good as any other public course in the area.
Challenging Par 5's
Played at Florissant Golf Club this past Sunday. The course was not crowded and pace of play was quick. If you strayed off the fairway, finding your ball was very difficult with high and sparsely mown rough. The buffalo gnats were terrible!!
The only problem with the course: gnats...bugged me!
Gnats have been an issue on most golf courses due to the extremely wet spring. My peeve with the course..nee clubhouse, I specifically asked the guy who checked me in..do they have a problem with bugs/gnats. Of course, he said no..they didn't but he uses a bug repellent when he played??? So, of course, gnats were horrible..not as bad as some..but bad.
I asked the clubhouse person what he used he mentioned he had purchased vanilla oil at Walmart for five bucks. Vanilla Extract, dilluted, is an amazing repellant for gnats..you dab some on your forearms and neck or...mix some up and spray on your clothes..and gnats HATE it. My point is..if the course KNOWS they have a bug problem..why not have a spray bottle there on the counter for players to use...instead of telling me to go to Walmart and pick something up??? ESPECIALLY when you KNOW you have bug problems!!! It couldn't possibly cost much money to ensure your guests are not overrun by gnats!! Sun Valley has their vanilla extract on the counter for all to use!
Clover wasn't awful but it could be better.
Cow pasture
They have really let the course go this year. You can barely distinguish the fairways and the rough. And some areas of rough are so tall and full of clovers it is impossible to play out of. There has been a lot of rain but there were plenty of dry fairways out there. Why is nobody out cutting the grass?
Where my ball
Even fairway not cut but the clover will eat your balls with a lot of blind shots it was hard to find
Beautiful course with rolling hills
Beautiful course, and not overly difficult for the average golfer. Pace of play not good due to a fivesome slowing play for all and not inviting others to play through. Lots of fun anyway, though.
Less than enjoyable
Hadn’t been there for over ten years but little had changed. With over 150 course choices I don’t envision returning.
Driving blind
My biggest takeaway from playing this course is that the front 9 is almost exclusively holes where you have to drive over a hill. From a playing standpoint, this isn't such a big deal since every hole is straight as an arrow. However if the course is backed up, you are constantly having to walk halfway up the fairway to get confirmation that the group ahead of you has moved on before you can swing. It creates a lot of back and forth on a course that isn't particularly friendly to walking due to the large hills and paths that lead through residential neighborhoods. The back 9 still has a few blind holes but is much friendlier than the front.
It is not the fault of the course but the clientele that were directly in front of us were pretty disruptive. The ground was still soggy due to a recent thaw and they were not respecting the cart path rule. They left tire marks on every hole on the course. There could not have been more than a dozen people playing the entire course at the time but 3 different groups were all backed up at the same hole. They constantly drove back and forth down the middle of the fairway looking for balls they clearly hit into the treeline. Luckily they only played the front 9 but we were there for nearly 2.5 hours by the time we reached the turn. The back 9 took us about 90 minutes.
You can't control the groups around you but the constant blind fairways makes this course not very fun to play. However the cost was fairly low so you can do worse. Cart is all but required though so if you prefer to walk, look elsewhere.
November Golf
Courses was in great shape especially for the time of year. There was a foursome playing extremely slow.
This is truly an under-rated course. Great value for the money.
First of all, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The course is in good shape with above average condition for tee boxes, fairways and greens. We always enjoy playing here...
Course Rating
My first time playing the course and I really enjoyed it. Not overly difficult, but it definitely presented some challenges. Several "blind" tee shots, but well marked with directional stakes. The price offered via Golf Now was hard to beat. Go give it a try!
Nice course and nice people
Enjoyed my early round today. Moved fast and great hospitality. Great layout including some interesting blind spots. Greens in great shape as well.
"Course is maturing" ???-The course opened in 1965. It looks the same as it did in at least the 80's. That includes all of the pot holes, drainage holes that extend into the fairways, etc. None of them fixed and looks as bad as ever.
