Hit Your Spots

"The Lakes" is a shot makers course. Very tight fairways with a lot of water often to the right so any fad often results in a lost ball.

Very beautiful course, even tougher I. The wind.

Very scenic course

We enjoyed playing this course. The overall conditions were excellent. Water hazards on almost every hole made for a challenge. The rough was short enough to find stay balls not hit into the water. My wife and I will recommend this course to friends.

The course was great but slow play

The pace of play was terrible. The starter said the average time for a round of golf was over 4 1/2 hrs. The starter rushed us off the tee and after that the round went downhill from there. We got placed behind a group of golfers that played from the blue tees but should have been playing form the white tees. And we got held up at every hole on both nines that we played.

Mystic Creek

This is a great course with a fantastic layout in mid-Michigan. The layout was scenic and the course is in great shape.

Poor customer service - no rangers in sight

The day started on a bad note when one of my playing partners tried to use a coupon for the course. The coupon was not expired, and had no terms or conditions on it. It wasn't a large dollar amount, but the attendant said because of new course management, only new coupons would be honored. Didn't offer to give any sort of concession. When someone who looked like they might be a manager overheard the conversation, the response was rude and unwavering. Despite the terrible customer service, we started our round and waited on every hole. We didn't see one ranger on the course monitoring pace of play, let alone asking slower golfers to keep pace with the group in front of them. Just a very poor job by the course manager of keeping an appropriate pace of play.

The course was in pretty good condition, especially given the harsh winter we had this year.

Overall, I was disappointed in the customer service and pace of play, which is why I won't be back, and won't be recommending this course to my friends. I had played here 5 or 6 times before and have generally had positive experiences. Unfortunately this bad one is enough to make me change my mind.

Not really worthwhile

Used to be a decent course many years ago but not the case these days. Good deals can be had on GN but be prepared to shoddy tee boxes and weeds all over the place. Greens roll ok but you're better off elsewhere.

course condition

this course was fun to and a little intimidating on the first hole of the Lakes course. After that the holes open up a bit and it was easier to see were to hit the ball. My problem with Mystic Creek was that the Teeing grounds were in bad condition, the greens were great, the fairways were in good condition, but the tees were terrible, could not find an area to tee the ball. Grass was sparse and dry and if there was grass it was long and shaggy.

Mystic Creek

The course was in better shape than several I've play so far. The greens are in good shape with very little winter burn. Other courses I've played thus far have serious green issues with many unplayable. Very pretty course.

Course was in great shape. A great value for the money. Pace is good.

I play a lot of good to great courses in SE Michigan. This course is a good value for the money. The pace is pretty fast. I like to play under 4 hours with a foursome. Has that
Northern Michigan feel.

Good Course, Bad Service

Nice, beautiful course on a lake. Some holes have some of the most spectacular in the SE Michigan. The twilight price was great too. The course itself it GREAT and I would definitely go back.

Only knock on this course was that the staff was very unprofessional. The person at the counter, bartender lady, even the cart girl, they were all 'unfriendly' and didn't seem to know/care what they were doing. When the clubhouse counter person doesn't tell you what 9 you start with or where to go to get the cart and the bartender cannot give you correct change in 5 minutes, there's some problem. The cart girl didn't care to stop and drove by loudly when people were putting (didn't offer anything either). Maybe it was just an off day and the staff were all young students who are working part-time, but it wasn't the most pleasant experience I had at a golf course around here.

Scenic course

Played Mystic Creek for the first time. Started on Lakes 9 and then played Woods 9. Course was in good shape. Greens in good shape but were slower than I expected. Both 9s were good but think I liked the Lakes 9 better. It is more scenic. Would definitely return and would consider making a day of it, taking advantage of the beach, camping and picnic facilities at Camp Dearborn.

Lakes+Woods - awesome course

first time playing here. I played alone (had the day off) - so I was able to play pretty fast, even from the tips. the lakes is very scenic and very challenging. the woods allowed you to catch your breath, but it's not easy by any means. all in all, I really enjoyed the course. I will definitely play there again.

Overall great course but needs a little TLC

I played this course several years ago and it was closer to pristine. The tee boxes were a little beat up and the greens were a little hard, and a bit on the slow side. Still, overall, a nice layout and nice course.

Nice course!! Too many people. Spent a lot of time waiting.

Mystic Creek is a nice 27 hole course. Good value for the price paid, but they were busy and we had to wait on almost every hole.
