Fun to play
Normandie is one of the few public courses in the area that has that old classic feel, fairways lined with large oak trees, smaller than average greens, rolling hills and each hole offering a different look. The obvious pitfalls are the conditions of the sand traps and most of the tees, but hopefully in the future this can be rectified.
Challenging but manageable
Normandie is a course that is for every level of player. It brings the novice a chance to improve their game, and a experienced player the ability to make some "real" golf shots. Fairways and rough were a little tall, but this has been a summer full of rain, so that is understandable. The greens were in fair condition. This really falls on the players though for not repairing ball marks. There was some burnout though on a few of the greens, but it is summer in St. Louis. Overall, I'd play it again.
Nice Course
Well mantained and pricing is reasonable.

Driving Blind.....
The course was in better shape than we expected, for the money it was a good value. Alot of the holes you go into blind so knowing the course would be an extra. We had a great time!
Friendly staff was a plus.....
Great Value
While Normandie isn't pristine, it is well-maintained. For the money, it's a great value. Also can be quite challenging playing from the back tees.
Set your alarm clock
Employee didn't arrive until 6:40 a.m. and people had 6:00 a.m. tee times. Had to call to get someone to show and open up. This caused delays right out of the chute for everyone else. Once playing the course was in good condition and the speed of play was good.
Great layout lousy management
This course has one of the best layouts in the stl area, unfortunately it suffers from insufficent revenue to maintain it to its true potential. The course attracts lousy "slow" golfers and is always in horrible condition. After one hot dry week the greens were already beginning to die. The bunkers are filled with dirt and are so firm you can putt out of them,. The tee boxes receive no water and are mostly hard compacted dirt. I play once every year because i love the layout and central location and continue to hope against all odds that someone will treat this corse the way it deserves. Im sure to be back next year because golfers never give up.
Convenient course that is improving
Greens were in very good shape and the fairways ok but the tee boxes were often in tough shape.
like the location in middle of town and layout is great
Been playing there for many years and still a great legacy in St. Louis with so many golf courses closing up.
Great Old Course, Poorly Maintained
You can tell that Normandie was once a great course...great holes designed well. However, it has not been maintained well and it shows. Many bare spots on both fairways and greens. It is evident that it doesn't get cut as often as it should from the grass residue left by the mower. Some of the tee boxes were not flat. Staff was surly.
Ugh!!!!
Not recommended. Fairways were shaggy or heavily thatched. No course eticut, slow play hazards were like asphalt. For the money and the conditions it was not worth it. Only saving grace were the greens.
Great layout, needs work
i enjoy the layout at Normandie where you'll need every club in the bag if you play back at the Blue Tees. The first and last holes will really test your game along with several in between (#9, 10, 11 are "Amen Corner"). Bunkers are horrible --recommend laying out.
Looking good unde Walters Golf Management
This course is one of the first I ever played after taking up golf 2.5 years ago. I'm really glad to see that it's join the Walters' family of courses. It needed management that really knows how keep a course through the harsh summer in the STL.
Fairways and greens were in great shape when I played for the first time this year. Look forward to playing this one many more times throughout the season with early to mid afternoon tee times <$26 on golfnow!
Course is back
Always one of my favorites (from my walking days). I love the design of this older course that requires more shot making and not just bombing the ball. From tee to green the course was in great shape. Fairway provide good lies - IF you hit them, rough is punishing but not unplayable. It's small and very puttable greens are fun to play.
Poor
Way too Over booked and narrow Fairways...I got hit into 2-3 times and very slow play due to the course being over booked.
The rough was so long and the course wasn't kept up very well. Will not play this course again.
Got the good deal on golfnow and the course wasn't worth 24.00. Course was very overgrown and the grass was so long and the sand bunkers were like hitting out of concrete.
Challenging, great rough, near perfect greens.
Challenging, greens 100% better than 2 years ago with some help from Mother Nature, various kinds of rough the best in the area. Two issues: fix the steps on #17...bad for many years. Burgers on the menu, but never serve them.
Course could be so much better
I loved the layout of this course and the convenience of the location. The staff was unfriendly and crude. The course should be in better shape. The tee boxes were barren, the bunkers were atrocious and the fairways were ok. The cart paths are in terrible shape as well. I know Walters Management has the reputation of being able to turn conditions around. Honestly, I have yet to see them improve the condition of any of the courses they manage and Normandie isn't any different. I enjoyed playing here, but I really wish I could have been able to play this course when it's in good shape. Also, they make you pay 6 bucks to get the layout of the course, whereas every other public course puts the layout on their score card. I thought that was very unprofessional
A good experience overall.
Challenging greens (slope), and the cart paths need some attention.
