Great experience
Very nice course!
New carts and clean
Fast greens
Pretty good for the money
Great course to play for the money, cart girl was attentive and nice. Beginning of the course is rather tight with a lot of the holes being right next to each other, once your past five or six it opens up.
The clubhouse is in dire need of renovation. It smelled like it was full of mildew, and it’s very dark and damp.
Overall, fun, of course for the money, nice casual golf day out.
Greens/Pins Too Challenging, Course in O.K. shape - Overall C+ experience
Overall during my round of 18 holes, I found this course to be O.K.
The combination of the following were pretty frustrating:
1. Overly challenging pin locations on the greens -- It seems like every hole we came to, the pin was placed in the precipice of a ledge, double-breaker undulation, or where the green was in rough shape.
2. Incredibly difficult "turtle-back" slopes on the greens (think Pinehurst #2, minus the quick speed) and really REALLY steep approach shots. Sometimes the slopes were so severe we couldn't see the hole from any point of the fairway -- You had to be up on top of the green to see the hole.. I don't think I've read so many 3-4% slopes consistently through a round. It often felt like you had to hit RIGHT at the flag or the ball would roll off the front or off the back of the green.
3. Unusually slow and not-great quality of greens -- I'm a mid-teen handicap, and I struggled mightily to get a good read on the green speeds. I couldn't quite tell if it was simply a difference of how the agro team had prepared one green from another, or maybe just more damage to some holes than others?... But no two greens felt the same speed and that was frustrating. Especially since there was no practice greens on site to get a feel for anything prior to the round.
Overall, it was just too hard to get a ball up onto the green with the steepness of approaching fairways/roughs (especially holes 15-18), but then try to get your ball to the hole without it sliding back off the green in any direction due to slope & inverted bowl shape. Pace of play was also poor. Staff notified us that it can be a problem with people taking too much time, but there was never an attempt by rangers to speed everyone up.
The course was beautiful and the weather was pleasant, otherwise. The heather was brutal if you missed fairways, but the fairways were fairly wide. Challenging slope increases/decreases over the entire round that took you up on ridges and down in valleys. The course wasn't in great shape, for whatever reason. Surprised by how "hidden" this course is, and the amount of backroad/barely paved roads you had to traverse to find it.
While it was an experience I appreciated, I think I would rather spend the money elsewhere at nearby courses with better overall experiences.
Frusturated
Need to open parking lot gate earlier than 7:55 for 8am tee time. Not enough time to pay, put bag on cart and go to bathroom. This is the only bad thing I have to say about this course.
Nice Play on a Nice Day - Fun course for an old beginner
Nice course with no sand traps. Back 9 a little more challenging. Course in good condition but broken tees all around the tee box. During check in, still being hit with cat urine smell. Odd way to start the day. Employees were friendly and had a good time.
Great as always
Another fun round at Mullberry Hills, Course was in great shape and the early tee times are perfect and affordable.
Great course in excellent condition. Play there once or twice a week. Love it,
