Cherry Creek Golf Club
About
Cherry Creek Golf Club winds through stands of mature oak, ash, and cherry trees. The rolling landscape is the perfect setting for a round, which has helped build the club's reputation as one of metro Detroit's premier public golf courses. Although it is a public course, the club offers the quality and amenities of a private club. The course is challenging but playable with four sets of tees that can accommodate all skill levels. The versatile layout is a popular option for tournaments and outings. In addition to the golf course, Cherry Creek's driving range and training area was ranked as the best practice facility in southeast Michigan. The facilities include a 50-station driving range with seven target greens of varying yardages, two putting greens, and three practice greens with bunkers.

Great course to play
Course was moderately challenging. Conditions were pretty good, but it's still the beginning of the season. I will definitely be playing Cherry Creek again.
Course pace of play
Course is good, but pace of play too slow. Tee times at 8 mins. No caution or encouragement by rangers for slow players, while making multiple rounds.
Cherry Creek Golf Course
This is a great course to play, I would go back again!
The greeeens were sweeeeeeeeeeeet
We enjoyed the challenge of those greens. It was a joy to be challenged by the speed and the "true rolling". One of the greens keepers explained the process by which they prepared them, and was very excited that we were impressed with their overall condition
Too early in the year
Course was okay for the money that I spent on it. I wouldn't pay full price for it that's for sure. Otherwise it was pretty entertaining for a quick 18-hole round.
Love this course, but pace of play can be an issue.
This is a beautiful golf course; challenging but fair if you play the correct tees. It actually was in very good shape for this time of year. Our only complaint was that the tee times were running way behind, and we wished they had mentioned that before we paid. Our time was 2:32, but we didn't tee off until about 3:45 (they did say there had been a frost delay). There were no carts available, so everyone had to wait until a group finished to get a cart. We only played 9 holes, but it took almost 3 hours. It was the first really beautiful day this spring, so maybe the course just wasn't ready for the deluge of golfers with spring fever. All said, we still had a good time and will play this course again.
good course but need to speed it up
the course is nice with just a bit of water. however pace of play in unacceptable we were there for 6.5 hours to play 18. i group i play with can easily finish in 3.5 hours if it is moving, there was no reason for the course to be that slow. there was also no warning about being an hour backed up in the pro shop
Good course for the price
The course is now computerized with tee times and the starter was very old and not very tech savy. Also, the tee times were about 45 minutes to an hour behind. Need to work on this.
Cherry Creek
Course was in great shape, a bit over crowded, probably because we have the nicest weather all year. Received an excellent value through golf now.
Pace of play
Pace of play was terrible. If you can't dtive the ball more than 150 yards. DONT PLAYBFROM THE BLUE TEES!!!!
worth the trip
Great course with lots of variety in the holes and challenging greens. Westsiders should make sure they get over to this course once or twice to see it.
Excellent
Great layout, great course. My favorite in the area.
would play gain.....
evrything went pretty smooth. no problems with anything....
Unbelievably slow for a Tuesday midday
The pace of play was so slow, two groups in front of us stopped playing. The rangers were out and about, but were unwilling to push the foursome that slowed everybody down.
Nice Course Close to Metro Area
Unfortunately picked a bad day to golf this course. Rained the previous day (and during our round) making the course cart path only. Barring that, the course was in great condition. Staff (especially the starter/rangers) were very friendly. Would definitely play again in better weather.
Good Course But Service Is Questionable
Good course but did not appreciate staff person telling me I could only play 9 holes when I booked and paid for 18 holes.
This course has a great superintendent but terrible head pro!
This is the 3rd time I golf here this year. The course itself is in Great Shape! This is why I picked it as the course to play on my birthday. However, this is the first time I teed off after 8am and I will never play here after 8am again!
We had a 2:50pm tee time and had to quit at 8:10pm after 16 holes due to darkness (5+hrs!!!). We waited on every tee box; with times that there were two groups to wait for. We saw a marshal frequently, but he never said anything to us or the groups ahead that spend 10min looking for balls after every tee shot.
I called Monday to voice my concerns to the Head Pro, but the lady who answered the phone insisted that I let her know what I was calling about, and after telling her she let me know that he was not available, but would contact me if I left my name and number (It's Thursday, still no call back).
It is sad for the grounds staff, who obviously takes a lot of pride in the course, to have a pro shop who overbooks the course and does little to promote an enjoyable round.
*Just read every other comment. Pace of play is a huge problem here and it will turn a great round at a great course bad.
Nice course but slow
We got paired up into a 4some good guys but we had slow play in front of us 5 hour round a little long for me, although the course and personnel were very good.
Pace of Play Crawled
Conditions were great, but the pace was extremely slow. Front 9 took 3 hours, and we had 3 groups on a tee twice in our round. We never had a ranger say a word to us. A round should never take longer than 4.5 hours, especially with carts. The course should set expectations with golfers early on the first tee, and often throughout the round from rangers circling the course either praising golfers for good pace, or encouraging them to pick up the pace if they fall out of position. Once is a warning, twice is a penalty - ranger asks the foursome to pick up their balls and move back into position immediately behind the group in front of them. Slothlike pace of play is the reason golfers are leaving the game in droves.
Cherry Creek- Mosquito Fest
Course is in very good shape. Pace of play was extremely slow. Worst of all- The mosquito's were in full force on every hole. We played the black tee's and the mosquito's were swarming on nearly every box. Slow pace (waiting on every tee box) combined with the mosquito's made for a below average round of golf.
