I played this corse for the last 3 years

The new owners should win an award for the most improved corse definitely will be playing this corse a lot more in the future

I scheduled a morning round with a few guys for my friends 80th birthday.. he hadn’t golfed Black Bear in nearly 25 years and we all really enjoyed the round. The new owner and staff are doing a fantastic job bringing the course back to a respectable/enjoyable place to play!

Course had a good layout. Hilly. #6 par 5 is a blind tee off shot. Recommend driving up ti see where ball would land first. We only played 9 holes as our trip was limited. Overall I would recommend.

What a beautiful course to enjoy a late summer round with friends. Clubhouse staff were beyond hospitable. Course was in great shape. Beware of the scrub and long grass bordering many fairways. The topography is varied and requires precise club selection. The tees are segmented by good distances so every skill level can play without feeling overcome with lengthitis. (The fear of not hitting it long enough). Reading the undulations of the greens takes a few holes. Donald Ross would be envious. The speed was a bit slower than what I expected. For these greens that is a good thing! Really incredible vistas from many tees. I enjoyed it immensely!

“Hole 19” for warmup.

Fairways and greens get better every time I’ve been to this course.

Great course, it is in great shape. Wish they would whip the dew in the morning before play. They are hurting for staff just like everyone else, but what Great value for the money!!! Would play again in a heartbeat. Wish they had more merchandise to buy, but saved me some coin.

Course was in great condition. The views were stunning. Greens very challenging

This course is a hidden gem! As it also continues to improve its conditions and the amenities around the clubhouse, it will truly be a must-play! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

We were delayed 40 minutes from our schedule t-time. We were three some and there were two huge groups in front of us. It took 3.5 hours to play 9 holes in the rain. Staff was very rude when we said the course management was not very good. Probably will not be back. Felt like all they wanted was our money and didn’t care about the experience.
