Beautiful course, good condition. Unique feature: prior to playing hole one there is a short par 3,
“Hole 19” for warmup.
Improvement
Fairways and greens get better every time I’ve been to this course.
Great place to play
Great course, it is in great shape. Wish they would whip the dew in the morning before play. They are hurting for staff just like everyone else, but what Great value for the money!!! Would play again in a heartbeat. Wish they had more merchandise to buy, but saved me some coin.

The wow factor
Course was in great condition. The views were stunning. Greens very challenging
A hidden gem
This course is a hidden gem! As it also continues to improve its conditions and the amenities around the clubhouse, it will truly be a must-play! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!
Poor course management
We were delayed 40 minutes from our schedule t-time. We were three some and there were two huge groups in front of us. It took 3.5 hours to play 9 holes in the rain. Staff was very rude when we said the course management was not very good. Probably will not be back. Felt like all they wanted was our money and didn’t care about the experience.
Well worth
Appreciate the work that’s been done. Would definitely play again. Great greens and layout.

Better than ever!
2023 was rough, under new ownership this course is back to beautiful. Don’t hesitate to play!!!
Great course
Stopped at this course on our way north. Didn’t expect much because of old low reviews and reasonable fees. We were pleasantly surprised how great the course is and clubhouse menu with great patio view. The new management put a lot into this course, I highly recommend.
Hidden Gem!
I was looking for a course near I-75 logistically because I was meeting two other people. To my pleasant surprise, Black Bear was both challenging and beautiful!
Pace of play
Pace of play was terrible.took our twosome over 3 hours for 9 holes.
Way over booked foursomes on nearly every hole so after 9 holes gave up and left.
Staff were good and because booked through golfnow they couldn't give us rain check or refund.
Very nice conditions, fun challenging layout.
It has been years since I golfed the Black Bear and the new ownership is really making a difference. The conditions are very nice and the greens really well done. Is is a great value in the Gaylord Mecca to get out and not break the bank. I have gone 4 times so far this summer and every time you see the owner himself or the workers hard at work replacing sprinkler heads and upgrading the grounds. Highly reccomend.
