Wonderful surprise.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 19 hole round at the New Black Bear! New owners have made, and continue to make, significant improvements. They have a vision for the future that will benefit the golf community and beyond. Hats off to the New Black Bear! We will be back!

Keep improving the place
Great day. Course starting to show signs of fall creeping in. Best value play in northern Michigan. Will keep coming back.
Worth the drive
Course was in good shape, even with the recently spiked greens. Awesome layout, with several holes having severe downhill/uphill contours. Play the correct tee for you game here…..Will definitely be back.

Very Nice Course!
Black Bear Golf Course was booked thru Golf Now.
The price was great and we wondered if it would live up to the website description.
It did!
The course is challenging but fair.
It offers hills, trees, sand traps, water, and undulating greens. On the front nine several greens were recently sanded.
On the back nine they were great.
The staff was friendly and quick.
This was an enjoyable round on a very nice course.
Great Course, Affordable Price
The greens were punched unfortunately when we played, but this is a great course which has undergone quite a bit of improvement it seems. With a bit more love, this will be a fantastic course.
Most improved
I played this corse for the last 3 years
The new owners should win an award for the most improved corse definitely will be playing this corse a lot more in the future
Best course available for the money
I scheduled a morning round with a few guys for my friends 80th birthday.. he hadn’t golfed Black Bear in nearly 25 years and we all really enjoyed the round. The new owner and staff are doing a fantastic job bringing the course back to a respectable/enjoyable place to play!
Last minute stop
Course had a good layout. Hilly. #6 par 5 is a blind tee off shot. Recommend driving up ti see where ball would land first. We only played 9 holes as our trip was limited. Overall I would recommend.
Serene and Challenging
What a beautiful course to enjoy a late summer round with friends. Clubhouse staff were beyond hospitable. Course was in great shape. Beware of the scrub and long grass bordering many fairways. The topography is varied and requires precise club selection. The tees are segmented by good distances so every skill level can play without feeling overcome with lengthitis. (The fear of not hitting it long enough). Reading the undulations of the greens takes a few holes. Donald Ross would be envious. The speed was a bit slower than what I expected. For these greens that is a good thing! Really incredible vistas from many tees. I enjoyed it immensely!
