Ron Jaworski's Valleybrook Country Club

Early morning tee times are great with these weather conditions. Had a bit of a slow start but after 3 holes, everyone began to set a pace that was constant and steady. Fairway conditions were good but ball marks on the greens were numerous and tiresome to fix before being able to putt out. Maybe spotting greens intermittently to find those that fail to repair their damage and make them aware to do what’s right before moving to the next tee box. Speaking about tee boxes, maybe having divot mix and a scoop at the par 3 tees would be nice. The longer pars don’t need this amenity but I found some grooves deeper than those used in corn fields.

We decided to eat elsewhere so I can’t comment on dining here. They had cart service. Very friendly person that kept up traversing the course. Glad to see a cart person at a course for a change.

I wish I could give 0 stars. $100 for an overbooked course in terrible condition. Hit into multiple times while waiting for the groups in front of us. Marshall’s did nothing. Multiple groups golfing in bare feet with no shoes. Greens were ok, fairways were basically backyard grass/weeds, and tee boxes weren’t cut, grass about halfway up my tee.

They have a nice layout for the mid to high handicap players. They have good electric carts. My let peeve is that many of the tee boxes aren’t flat

I never thought I’d have to write something like this, but after what I’ve endured at Valleybrook Country Club, silence would be a disservice to anyone who values respect, decency, and equality.

Let me be clear: I’ve spent my money here. Plenty of it. I’ve actually given freely, even gifting copies of my book to staff and guests. I pour positivity into people each time I’m there. I’ve supported this place with nothing but positivity. And in return, I was publicly humiliated, lied on, and spoken to like I was less than human—not once, but repeatedly.

A young staff member named Luke—who clearly harbors both arrogance and racist undertones—accused me of begging for golf balls. Let that sink in. I’ve never asked a single soul here for anything free. Not once. I’ve paid my way and then some. Yet, Luke felt comfortable making this false, demeaning accusation out loud, in front of other customers. Why? Because I charged my phone in a shed—something I was given permission to do multiple times. Because I hit a few balls off the grass—again, with prior approval. This wasn’t about rules. This was about control and prejudice.

When I brought this to the attention of Tom, the GM, I was told I’d receive a follow-up call. That call never came. No apology. No accountability. Just silence.

I returned the next day—not because I’m okay with what happened, but because I’m stronger than the average person, mentally and emotionally. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Instead, I was yelled at the moment I walked in by Gene, who told me I wouldn’t speak to “his staff” that way. Let me remind you: Gene wasn’t even present when Luke disrespected me. But rather than hear my side, he doubled down and told me to leave. Yelling at me actually. Ironically, he claimed the range wasn’t open until 6:30, yet at 5:45, I watched multiple other golfers—none who looked like me—welcomed and accommodated without issue.

This was not a misunderstanding. It was targeted, blatant racism dressed up as policy enforcement.

The culture among certain staff here is toxic, arrogant, and discriminatory. This is a club that chooses silence over accountability, and enabling over integrity.

Unless Valleybrook addresses this publicly and directly, I will continue to leave reviews daily. I will not be silenced, and I will not be gaslit into thinking my experience doesn’t matter. Because it does. And so do I.

UPDATE — June 18, 2025

Today the General Manager, Tom, phoned me. He opened with a heartfelt apology for the racially humiliating treatment I described in my original review. For a moment, I thought Valleybrook might finally take real responsibility.

Then he tried to bargain for my silence.

Tom offered me a free range pass for the rest of the year—on the condition that I delete or “adjust” this review. Moments earlier I had explained how deeply the incident traumatized me and said I needed time to think. He couldn’t even grant that courtesy; protecting Valleybrook’s online rating was clearly his priority.

I don’t have a price tag, and my dignity is not for sale.

Instead of erasing my experience, I’m documenting this new insult:

• The GM attempted to buy off a victim of discrimination with free golf.

• He showed more urgency about optics than about holding his staff accountable.

• Until all four employees involved are terminated, accountability has NOT been served.

Valleybrook, consider this an official 0-star update. Respect can’t be purchased.

7/1 Update: It’s now been nearly 10 full business days since I was told by management at Ramblewood (another Ron Jaworski property) that they had relayed my situation to Mr. Jaworski’s assistant. I was hopeful that someone in leadership would follow up, especially given how serious and humiliating this experience was for me. But I’ve received no call, no email, no acknowledgment—nothing. After Tom at Valleybrook attempted to “resolve” the issue by offering me a free range pass, I made it clear that my dignity wasn’t for sale. The continued silence only confirms what I feared—they simply don’t care.

Since it was the day before a holiday you expect the course to be busy. Never saw a ranger the whole round there was groups that were holding up play.

Play was extremely slow. We had to wait 10 minutes at every hole.

The pace of play is an absolute joke at this course becuase they pack tee times so close together just to make as much money as possible. We’re waiting for 2 groups at every single tee box. Rounds should not take 5 hours and I have experienced this both times coming to this course. I will never play here again.

It was my first time playing this course and me and my buddie played a 6 hour round.

The course was amazing. Hats off to grounds crew. I have played here a lot and this is, in my opinion, the best it has ever looked. Staff and cart girl were phenomenal, can’t wait to play here again!!

We end up having a 5+ hour round because of an outting that went out just before we teed off. While outtings are not normally and issue for me, the fact that they had some many players and did not enforce the normal pace of play rules (especially if you have people who don't know golf etiquette) they don't know not to pick up other peoples teeshots and put them in their pockets. If it is not your ball, leave it alone. Way too many people to try and squeeze in extra tee times and make more $$ for the day.

The greens were in great shape during our round — fast, consistent, and true. Fairways were lush and well-maintained, and the rough was fair without being punishing. Hole 10, a picturesque par-4 with water in play off the tee, and hole 15, a demanding par-3 over a ravine, stood out as highlights.

The course winds through beautiful, tree-lined terrain that feels peaceful and secluded, even though it’s conveniently located. It’s a great walking course, but the carts are comfortable and equipped with helpful GPS.

Staff were friendly and professional, both in the pro shop and on the course. The clubhouse is inviting, with good food and cold drinks ready when you finish your round.

Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, Valleybrook offers a consistently rewarding round. Highly recommended for golfers of all skill levels looking for a well-run, scenic, and thoughtfully designed course.

The foursome in front of us was extremely slow and not the best golfers, even with using the forward tees. 2+ entire holes open in front of them when we finished. The group in front of us quit after 12 due to the pace. There was no ranger to ensure steady play, but it may not have mattered as I understand the players were members. 9 minute tee time spacing didn't seem to be the issue but could be if members get slotted in without a tee time. I want to understand members should have privileges' but not at 12:00 Noon on a public course. The carts had a sign saying you should be on 4 hour round pace. Took us 5+. Waited for every shot, etc. It's a shame, nice course, nice greens, nice lounge with good food and cold beer! Nice staff. Note: I played this course 2 other times over the last few years without issue. Hoping this is a 1 time occurrence!
