great course
Great course for its value. Always in excellent conditions. Very narrow fairways which help if you're trying to straighten your swings out. Only downside is that there are no par 5s. Other than that its a gem.
Beautiful Course!
Well maintained course that might as well be a romp through the woods. Although heavily wooded I didn't lose as many balls as I thought I would. shorter than most but hole placement makes challenging
Pond has grown up
Haven't played here in over20 years still in great shape I need to start playing it again was a very right layout in great shape good place to work on your iron play
Perfect for combination of skill levels
Played with my girlfriend and a golf buddy and the course was challenging for all of us. Truly enjoyed the day of golf at old Forge golf course.
Nice bang for the buck
Course was in good shape. The greens were a little bouncy, they were just aerated, no spotting. Tight, tough course. Don't take out the driver. Will not be needed. I would recommend
I wait 10 plus minutes for each hole
It's not a bad course to practice your short game. But it's such a small course that in the weekends you have to wait so long per hole. The reason in my opinion they let walking foursomes out on the weekends and they hold everyone up. The course is small enough and to packed. If you play I suggest playing the week days. Other then that the course is usually in great shape and the staff areally great.
Course was in excellent shape great job to the staff.
Wow is all I can say the course was perfect and pace of play was super fast. It was a great day out.
Hometown Green
Forge Pond is one of the first places I have ever played and is located a few minutes away from my house. I will start off by saying that it is not at all my first choice, nor is it somewhere I would recommend an experienced golfer to play. The Fairways are SO narrow and the woods are thick so if you don't hit it straight...drop another ball. However, the course is ALWAYS in great condition and well maintained for a par 60 county course. I will always go back and play because it is the perfect place to sharpen up your irons/short game, literally forcing you to hit the ball straight and avoid trouble up by the greens. There are a couple par 4's that are definitely fun and challenging. Great rates and pace is good depending on when you start.
Nice short course, great play
The course is short, mostly par 3s and a couple short par 4s. Didn't read the length of the course before booking, but I did not regret it because this is a very well-kept course by friendly staff. Would recommend and play again. Only thing that wasn't great was VERY slow play by four guys walking ahead of us. Didn't seem like any of them ever played before, and no one was out there speeding them up so we had an exchange of words while passing them. Otherwise, very good round for me and a friend.
Great little course for iron play
At first look forge pond can look a little dwarfed being a par 60 it doesn't appeal to the masses. But it's actually a very challenging course that will certainly test your iron play. With small greens and tree lined fairways forge pond is challenging to all handicaps. The course is well taking care off for a county course. It's easy to walk and the pace of play is always pretty good. Also a great place to golf with your kid or wife .. Make sure your bring plenty of balls it's easy to slap two or three into the woods .
terrible service
I went to the course with my golf now reservation in hand for 18holes with a cart. This is due to the fact that my buddy has a bad leg, when we arrived at the course, we were told there are no more carts available, as I looked around I noticed about 50 carts behind the gate. I was still charged to play 18 holes and for 9 holes with a cart which we never recieved, the conditions were bad, and the staff was unwilling to help with anything. As a local who has played her many times, I expect to be treated with a hint of respect, which I was not. I will not be playing this course any more and I will advise others to do the same. Horrible experience!
Well designed executive course
The fairways are very narrow,so hit the ball straight. Pack extra balls because if you miss the fairway on the par fours you probably will not find your ball.Unusally long par threes for a par 60 course. Much more difficult than the average short course. Greens were a little slow the day I played.
Monday in December
Small sized Executive Course. Course looked good for Mid December. Facilities could stand to be upgraded, but for a County Course, about what should be expected.
good course
Good personals , good play, we like whis course, but no have bar in lobby
Great value
I enjoy playing this short course. It's short but fairly challenging. They keep if well maintained but the greens were quite slow. Other than that, you really can't beat the price.
A great place to improve your short game!
This is a great little course that is an essential play to improve your short game. Primarily par 3's and a few challenging, mostly dog leg par 4's. The fairways are narrow, and the greens are some of the most undulating that I've seen. The course provides a great challenge to your irons, and provides great pitching and chipping opportunities. The greens will give your putter a work out, as well. The staff here is friendly enough, and the starter keeps things well paced. We have never experienced a backup here. If you get a parks department membership as a resident of Ocean County, the prices can't be beat. A good walking course, as well.
Didn't meet expectations
After Playing at Atlantis, the other Ocean County Course, my expectations were marked high. After traveling to the course I was immediately disappointed, to the point where the nicest part of the course was their sign. The staff was very rude and unpleasant. I will definitely never play at this course, nor would I recommend this course to anyone.
Good for the money
Everyone was nice except the starter.....Didnt like the fact i was booked through GOLFNOW.com
Not An Easy 18
Thought the course is short, it is tight and the sand traps seem to find your ball. Third time I played there this year and as a beginner it was the toughest round.
Nice Place at the Right Price
Very tight executive course. Greens are very small. No yardage makers (that can be trusted) on the par 3s. Par 4s are very weird holes, basically have to lay up off the tee on all of them because fairways end at about 170-180 yards out. grass in fairways is very good, tee boxes are OK. grass on greens is nice but greens are extremely SLOW, they need to be cut. all in all, for the right price it is a decent place to hang out for 3 hours and practice your approach shots, the small greens are really a nice challenge.
