Avalon Golf Club

Average course at best all around. I would have given this a worse review had I paid more than $39 for my round. I booked a 3pm tee time so the rate was cheaper. I would absolutely not recommend paying more than that. $74 for a morning tee time is absolutely insane. I would have asked for money back if I paid that rate.

I arrived early and paid my greens fees and was then told to hurry up and tee off as a women's league was starting behind me. This was 15 mins before my scheduled tee time? I don't know why they booked me for that time slot if a league was starting at about the same time. I didn't get to warm up or even hit a putt on the practice green which I came early to do. By hole 3 the twosome behind me jumped up with me because pace of play was so slow.

Course layout is pretty basic. Not much to a lot of the holes, straight par 4s and 5s for the most part. You drive back and forth thru a housing plan throughout the round. Conditions were ok for Sept, not great at all. Tee boxes were in bad shape, greens were ok but painfully slow.

Overall, I probably wouldn't come back or recommend this course to anyone and certainly wouldn't pay what they're charging. $94 in the summer is absolutely insane, for that price you should be getting a very well kept and laid out course and that is very much not the case here.

I went out as a single but joined another group at the second hole. What nice folks! I had the best game of golf. It was a beautiful day and the course was in good shape. They had recently aerated the greens , but the rest of the course was in great shape.

Nice course located in the center of the vacation area of the Jersey Shore. Love the layout but the course needs help. Lots of bare spots on the fairways. Greens also need some help. The greens are large and run true.

Always enjoy playing this course.

nice to play but is slower than I like 4 hrs 15 min

This course seemed to be on the lower end price wise compared to other courses around. I’m new to the sport so my courses to compare to are limited but the course had a far amount of distance to it compared to my courses in Virginia greens were worn but to be expected based on this point in the season. Definitely plan to come back whenever my next vacation weekend is.

Tee-box have no grass or uncut grass, sand traps have 4 inch water from Friday's rain today is Sunday. The traps were never drained and forget about sand in the bunkers its all mud. The fairways are terrible a lot of mud burnt grass from too much fertilizer. I played a lot of courses this is a ZERO from 1 to 10. I am sure it is up for sale because they sure are not spending any money to maintain it. AVOID AVOID.

I had time to create a golf advisor account and write this review and had 10 minutes to spare waiting for a hole. Legit waited about 15-20 minutes on every hole. Not to mention this course is also in poor condition. Some of the tee boxes are actual dirt. The fact that I paid $70 for this round makes me feel like I got completely ripped off. I will never come back here again.

For the first time I used Golfnow to make a teatime at this golf course. Only to show up ready to play to be told by the course but there was no teatime available, golf now does not update their listings or coordinate with the course itself! This is the first and last time I will golf now.

Very nice layout but course conditions were not good , it has been very hot and there was a tropical storm so I am hoping that is the reason .

Lay out is great the course surroundings are beautiful but the fairways and tee boxes need help .

I’ve played Avalon many times over the last 25 years. Although I belong to a local private course, occasionally, like every few years, I have a reason to play Avalon. Usually it’s because a friend isn’t a keen golfer and wants to play a reasonably priced and easy course. So , yesterday, we played Avalon. It’s in awful shape, fairways full of dead spots, very slow pace and the greens are impossibly slow. I think the fairways on my home course may putt faster. It’s always slow at Avalon, like five hours but the course condition is a bit better than now. They also for some reason have no drinking water on the course.

Ok $40.23.

The course was shut down because of the hurricane put my money back in my account

Unless you want to play a 6 hour round of golf don’t even bother. Tee times are always 30 minutes behind schedule. Wait on every shot for every hole. Conditions are less than optimal because of the amount of golfers they squeeze in a day. 5 minutes between tee times. No wonder it’s backed up.

Slow play and even slower greens. Course was in very poor shape overall especially when you consider the price they charge. Staff was not very considerate to the players operating the machinery while on and around greens on the same hole.
