Got what I expected and more
I've played this course last year. Course was in better condition than expected since we haven't had steady rain in a long time. The rough was burnt out in many places but the fairways and greens were good. Sucks for me since I'm not in the fairway alot. However, this day I hit many fairways to my surprise. The course has many short holes and mostly straight. So, if you hit it straight you are golden. The par 5's can be a potential eagle if you can hit 2 good shots. 2 of them I hit a good drive and 3 wood. Shocking since 1st hole is a par 5. BUT put it in the water to left of green, Forgot it was there. Second par 5 got my 3 wood on hill of rough. Of course duffed my chip so was looking at par or bogey. Not birdie. All in all, weather was nice, hot but not too humid. I didn't play really well, but did my usual. However, 2 cigars and a few beers with a friend made it a great day. Also, play with 2 other young guys who were great. Second time I teamed up with a twosome that were great. Totally recommend the course to anyone. Its also close to where I live so thats a bonus.
Cream ridge review
Fairways are in good shape. Greens were in great shape quite challenging from the whites. Greens were hard to read and very tricky with a lot of slope. Better put the ball in the right place or you will be 3 jacking like me all day. I’m definitely coming back to conquer the greens, but I think that’s a good thing. I’ve been playing this course for years took a couple years off but now I’m back at it.
Easy and Convenient
A quick decision to golf ate in the day turned into a positive experience. Tee time was 3:45 for a threesome and finished in 3 hours 30 minutes. I believe we got lucky as I definitely observed slow moving groups. Fairways were in great shape. Greens too. Shorter than a traditional course, but time well spent. Will be back.
Review
This is really boring golf course. 10+ holes are straight layout with no imagination. 18th is good challenging hole worth money rest all holes are not.
Course amenities are bad.
On course starter not friendly.
Hot day at Cream Ridge
Course was in very nice shape. The only complaint I had was that there was no water on the course and there was no cart girl for the back nine. Felt like I was becoming dehydrated. Temperature was in the mid 90s with no breeze Otherwise, it was a very good experience.
Can be better
Course needs some more TLC. The fairways and greens are in good shape, but the rough is hardly more than concrete with some dirt on it. The staff is always top notch though so that helps.
First timer at CRGC
Hot day, rough is already burnt out but fairway lies were very good. Greens have alot of slope and were surprisingly fast. Was often deceived by distances (looked closer)and the hard ground allowed you to run/bounce up an otherwise poor strike. Local knowledge is key - luckily our 2some was paired with a very insightful and friendly regular (Ken) who’s guidance was accurate and appreciated! We played in 4 hours but waited alot. Played from gold tees. Further away than I normally travel but fit the bill for a meetup location. V bumpy ride in a cart. Got a hot deal for $43ea (Monday 11:42 tee time) which was tolerable- wouldn’t want to pay more. 19th hole looks inviting but didn’t stay around after play.
Poorly Mismanaged Course
I booked a tee time for 18 holes, walking. I show up an hour early to my tee time to find out that they are having a shotgun scramble and I would have to start right away to only play 9 holes. I stated that I drove 40 mins to play this course and booked 18 walking. The staff basically told me “that’s too bad” and that I could “either play 9 or get refunded.” (They didn’t even offer to discount the back 9, which cost $34). I played the back 9 and the only decent areas were the fairways and a couple of greens. Most greens were cratered with divots and half of them were covered in goose crap. The rough was basically dead grass and hard dirt. The pace of play was atrociously slow. One positive: the layout was decent and fairly challenging, but I will not come back to this course due to the poor mismanagement of tee times, maintenance of the greens, and pace of play. Would not recommend this course.
Good Father’s Day outing
Course is designed well. The pace of play was terrible as everyone was backed up.
Challenging Layout, A Lot of Potential
The holes all require you to think. Not many bunkers but a lot of small greens and opportunities to score with some shorter par 4s and 5s.
Course is ugly. Conditions were not bad but it’s just an ugly course. Water is in the right spots but it’s green and nasty.
Pace of play was terrible. There were 4 groups on one hole at times. You can tell that the members at this semi private do whatever they want. There was a foursome with four carts ahead of us and they were practically driving on the greens. The one gentleman who had to be at least 70 years old would drive onto the tee box and through mulch beds.
