Old Orchard Country Club
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2025.
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Cancel your booking. It’s not too late !
We have dive bars. You now have dive “golf” courses. Where to start.... grass. The thing that grows and your supposed to cut? Not happening here. Actual holes that look to be here some time - fill them! Shooting from the rough from middle of fairway - if you can find your ball, its crazy. The green keeper does a lot of walking but evidently doesn’t know what a mower is. His dog was well trained but that’s the only redeeming feature from this golf course. If only there was option of zero stars? Played nine and left. Place does not deserve $70 - stay home with the wives men, not worth it.
Disappointed on an almost perfect day.
So, we have been golfing at Old Orchard for a number of years now, the staff have always been nice and accommodating and the starter runs things well. When I say I have never seen the course in this bad of shape, I mean I have NEVER seen the course in this bad of shape. My friends and I struggled to distinguish where the fairway ends and the rough begins. The green side rough was almost 6 inches high in some areas. I lost my ball 2x...in the fairway! The amount of grass clippings, leaves, and other non-natural debris made the fairway not always a joy to be in. The greens looked as if they were former tee-boxes with small chunks of turf missing across large parts of the green. Now, I understand that the times are challenging and we were all out looking for a small sense of normalcy but they have been open for long enough to prep the course for a big day where they would be anticipating a lot of reservations, Fathers Day.
On a funny note, the course-dog is very cute and ran-up to my friend on 14 storming in from 100 yards out ,barking constantly, only to stop in front of him, bark 2x, and casually walk away.
Awful course
Course is in awful condition. No care for greens and fairways or any where in general. Had saw bad reviews but had hoped it was just because of covid but no horrendous course conditions.
Pity could be a nice course with some proper care
Won’t be back
Awful course
Course was awful. Horribly maintained. Place has great potential but maintenance is awful. Greens and freeways are horrendous. We’ll not be back
Overpriced & Awful
The most overpriced course on the east coast. There is no landscaping, tees dumped on the tee box, dead trees in random places, concrete for bunkers. A round should be $20 max. Have no idea where the greens fees can possibly be going except in the owners pocket. Not one dime is spent on upkeep. It’s beyond sad when you can lose balls in the fairways. This place sucks and should get zero stars.
Buy a lawnmower!
It’s ok to cut the grass, considering we haven’t had any rain. Its ok to pick up clippings, It’s ok to cut fairways and greens. When you lose a ball or two in the first cut you know it’s bad! Layout is not bad, just needs a lot of tender care!
Awful condition all around
It’s criminal that they charge 60$ to play this course. The greens are either patchy and have holes (not just divots actual holes in them) haven’t been cut in at least a week. Tee boxes are essentially second cut rough lies. Green side bunkers are either rock hard or mounds of sand throughout and fairway bunkers are grown in with weeds and grass. It’s truly a shame bc the layout is nice and it could be a nice track but just poorly maintained and not a knock on the crew it seems more like there’s just no money being put back into the course.
Not taken care of at ALL
This place is a waste of money and time fairways are like the rough sand traps full of weeds greens over grown literally terrible
I am due a refund
Old Orchards should offer me a full refund. The course is an embarrasment. Tee boxes with grass as high as the rough. Greens that look more like fairways. Tee markers for the back tees either missing or thrown off to the side. OO can't keep "relying" on a reputation of how the course looked and played in the 90s. OO can't keep reminding people about the name of the course designer. The course is in horrible shape while they have had plenty of time to get it right and play has been limited due to Covid 19. Refund please.
Don’t Play if you’re experienced
This course is terribly maintained. They definitely do not water the grass. If your club hits at all under the ball, there’s a risk of you damaging the club as the ground is basically concrete. This place is probably the worst I’ve played. Waste of money!
Poor condition
Why would they charge you $65 when that golf course is in that condition
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Old Orchard Country Club. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
They Should Pay You to Play Here
Run! Don’t play this course. It looks like it hasn’t been maintained in years. Plenty of other great courses in the area that are in much better shape.
Does This Place Even Own A Lawnmower???
Please do yourself a favor and believe all the reviews you read online about place.
8:30am 70.00 green fees
The tee boxes are not existent, fairways and the edge of fairways need the grass cut desperately.
The staff blames it on the rain? Really you got to kidding me. They haven’t cut the grass in weeks!!!!
Cart paths are giant potholes,
If this is the way your going to run you course do yourself a favor and sell it to the local home development so they can build homes on it
Unfortunate
There seemed to be no attempt to care for the course. You could not tell the difference between the fairway and rough. The tee boxes were also not taken care off. I am sure this course can be better, but it just was disappointing. I'd avoid it at the present moment.

Course neglected
Manager unfriendly
Play in emergency only
Worst course in New Jersey
Course conditions were absolutely atrocious. Rough was about 5 or 6 inches thick. Greens are infected and bumpy. Tee boxes were so hard that I snapped 6 plastic tees when I usually can get through a round with one. Cart paths were so bumpy it made my phone emergency dial. Weeds are overwhelming the course and the tree branches are scattered all over the place.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will continue to work towards a 5-star experience and we hope to see you back!
Not cared for course terrible
The course is a disaster. Not kept at all weeds are ridiculous and daisys everywhere. If you hit a ball 3 feet off the fairway...good luck. Horrible condition.... a shame.
