Hillsborough Country Club

About
Hillsborough Country Club is tucked away amongst the foothills of the Sourland Mountains. The golf course overlooks the beautiful Amwell Valley, sprawling across lush rolling hills gently sprinkled with mature trees. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for all skill levels, it is even gentle enough for beginners. While it may not be what you're looking for if you want a long and challenging test, it's great for a casual round with a few tricky surprises. Accuracy will be generously rewarded but the golf course isn't overly punishing if you're slightly errant. Golfers will come across a fair amount of strategically placed sand traps as well as the occasional water hazard. In addition to the course, you can get even more short game practice in on Hillsborough Country Club's practice chipping and putting greens and there is also a driving range available.

Great course for the money
Great course for the money… after booking this course I read some of the reviews from within the last couple weeks I have no idea what anybody’s talking about we had a great round course layout was fantastic enjoyed it thoroughly only problem I had with it was it was a little dry in some spots…
ok at best
not worth 60 bucks , but it was the only course that had tee times,,,,
Must Be New Ownershio
Simply this course is not run like it was in the passed. Really disappointed. Condition has gone down hill. Even for the 45 dollars it's not worth it.
Would not recommend
Challenging layout but not in a good way, seems like this course was just dropped on some old farmland. Lots of strange holes where good shots wind up punished. Conditions were not great as it seems the drainage is poor. Extremely overpriced for what you get.
I liked it
Course had some pretty bad reviews but I didn’t have the same experience. Some fun holes, course was good enough.
Deceptively Difficult for a 70 par course
Hillsborough seems like it would be a great starter course for any entry player considering it’s got pretty wide fairways and except for 3-4 holes is pretty straight. However, with an incredibly thick rough and some bunkers that play like asphalt, this is a surprisingly tricky course. Nevertheless it’s a decent course and pretty private which is nice if you just want to relax and have some fun. There’s usually no starter so it’s kind of a free-for-all but hit em straight and play quick and you’ll be okay.
Yikes
Honestly, I don’t know what I expected, but man, this wasn’t it. I’ve played a few other courses in the area at similar price points - but wow - this was just a mess.
You can tell that at one time, this was a pretty nice track. And upon seeing the dilapidated buildings and disheveled hedgework at the entryway, I was cautiously optimistic that all the care was being applied to the playing surfaces and the course itself - rather than some of the cosmetic club amenities.
Unfortunately, my optimism was unfounded and unsubstantiated. I don’t have a problem with playing a challenging course with thicker rough. But this rough was wayward and accidental - haphazardly grown because - who knows? Perhaps the Cub Cadet was out of commission? For the past several weeks?
Poorly manicured, poor drainage, and tee boxes that looked like they’d been rattled by mortar shells were as populous as the dandelions scattering every “fairway.”
Rough day
The course was wet from the rain and the rough was rough !

More like a cow pasture. If you didn’t hit the fairway, you lost your ball in the 6 inches or more of rough and or in the woods. Interesting course layout with doglegs and hills. A long drivers course only on par fives other holes to narrow, you have to hit everything straight or you lost your ball.
