Long but Straight Forward
I like this course. It is not a course that will blow up your score if you are playing poorly. However, you have to be on your game to score well here. Some relief on errant drives most of the time so it benefits the long hitter probably more than the straight short hitter. Some tough precise par 3s.
Golf 101
My son and I had a great match going at the turn. We stopped at for maybe 30 seconds and went to 10. There was a couple just teeing off who we had never seen and a grumpy single coming up expecting us to add him mid-match. We passed but had to wait for a good 20 minutes for the couple. They eventually let us through but clearly this was not the only group added and pace of play came to a screeching halt. The staff has to reread Golf 101 about who and where you add a group on the course. We left after 12.
Times have changed at Suneagles
The lack of rain has really taken a toll on the course, a lot of bad fairways and tee boxes. The greens however are in better shape. I will give this course another try in the spring and hope that it has recovered from the lack of rain.
Course conditions
Slow greens, hard sand traps, awful fairway conditions, but great value for lowest price paid
Would recommend
The greens were in great shape, a little slow but rolled nicely. Fairway was burned out in some places but not terribly. Tee boxes were nice, and I enjoyed the course layout. Would recommend a cart because the course I rather spread out. Overall a solid course and a good value if you could get a hot deal.
Great Price
Course wasn't in too bad shape considering the lack of rain all summer.(some crabgrass on the greens)... Paid $29 carts included....can't beat that ! (not worth regular price during dry spell).....Some of the holes are relatively easy and some are very very difficult...I enjoyed my day !
Crab Grass City
Awful, been playing here for many years.
They let this course get away from them. Crab grass everywhere even on the greens. Tillinghast spinning in his grave. I'll come back in 2 years or so, that's how long it will take for these hacks to make this course right.
Completely negelected
I hate to ever leave a poor review but WOW, this place was a COMPLETE MESS and the primary reason for being more upset than I should be over a poorly maintained course is the fact they were getting $64 for this. HOLY COW, awful tee boxes, patches of weeds and clovers all over the fairways. 7 was dried out and ground cracking open like it was in an earthquake. I have played over 15+ courses this summer and this is by far the abs WORST of the worst I've seen. I will not be back. I don't know what else to say other than, If you pay a DIME over 20$ for this, that a Dime too much. Shame on whatever company is supposed to be maintaining this. The putting greens were in horrific shape, u can see patches of weeds there too that were cut and rolled over to flatten them. Ugh. Bad bad bad :(. It's a shame too Bc could be a cool setting to play amongst with the abandoned barracks in the background.
Good layout, horrible shape
The entire course had weeds on it including the greens and sand traps. I wouldn't play this course again if it cost $10. Apparently no one owns the course currently and it shows. There is no reason to play this course until there is a new owner.there are to many other nice courses in the area. I did like the layout, this place could be very nice.
Crab grass on Greens
It's clear money is not put into this course. Too bad, because it's a nice layout. However, my puts skipped over crabgrass on the greens. For what they charge, they need to keep up with maintenance.
Course needs work
I played this course a month ago and it was in much better shape. A lot of fairways were burnt out with crabgrass taking the place of fairway grass. The course is a great course but needs work. The fairways and greens needed a mow. Was able to play for a great deal on a Sunday from GolfNow which took away the sting of the course condition.
Course was in very good shape
Course in good shape. Greens were good but on the slow side. Great value for the money if you get a hot deal
Terrible condition from tee box to fairway
Tee boxes looked like backyard grass with weeds. Played off shamrocks in the fairway, no distance markers on the tee boxes for par 3 had to guess distance based on the scorecard, nothing in the fairway except bird houses as 150 and a red dot for 100. Dry dead spots on the greens. Long line in the afternoon at the tee box, teed off a half hour late. Would not play again. Not worth the money.
Play it on a dry day
The course was very soggy the day we played after a heavy rain and several of the fairways were really unplayable. On a dryer day this could be a fun challenging course to play. Played it several times before in better weather and had great time. I would not pay full price to play but Golf Now prices make it a good bargain
Interesting Tillinghast Course
Course has nice character, with interesting greens. In pretty good shape, except the first tee which was more like playing in your back yard. Greens smooth, a little slow. Everything could've used a mow. But I wouldn't hesitate to return and play it again.
Fair value
Course is challenging yet fair. Not too many surprises with small amounts of water and mostly straight forward holes. If you are having a good day I can imagine that the course can be scored upon pretty well.
Suneagles
greens best part of course-
fairways green but abundance of clover
sand traps being rennovated- some very good- others fair
several par fives short- with two others at 525 yards or more-
pace of play good
near Jersey Shore and worth playing if on vacation and want to get in a round while on vacation
nice experience
A beautiful day and the course was made all the
nicer because of the gentleman they paired us up with.
He knew everything about the course so his tips were very helpful.
fun to play
Course in great shape except the sand traps...No sand in them..like hitting off concrete
