New ownership making many improvements --- Time will tell
Poor communication
Poor communication to player by staff, all tee boxes were aerated, plugs still all over tees.....a full hole was closed....made into a par 3 most courses offer a aeration special....non here....overall layout was good, but since we drove over 1 1/2 hours we were disappointed in the course
Fun Course
The greens had been aerated a week before and too much sand still on the greens. Also, the sand traps were Mud traps in some cases but it is very early in the season and they are doing a lot of work on the course. The signature hole-10th is closed for now to improve the drainage. Overall it seems like a nice, challenging course so I will be back
Good bang for buck under slight construction
They were doing construction in order to make the course twice as nice and it already is beautiful. Play while you can because i anticipate prices going up after the million dollar plus renovation.great place.
Ground Under Repair
Late winter day and the course was solf but the greens were impressive, a lot of speed and the roll was good. Enjoyed the round.
Goose poop
They are doing a nice job of cleaning up this course and it’s a course I enjoy playing but the goose poop has been out of control for years. They should consider getting some kind of a service as this deters me from wanting to play or recommend this course. The rates are high enough that they should invest in managing their geese problem.
A wet round walking
I was trying tog et out and play before the rains came and I did but I got wet in other ways. There was a sign on the Pro Shop counter that read Cart Path Only so I ran back to my car and got my pull cart. Just walking down the first hole you realized why it was cart path only, the course was soaked and I lost way too many balls in the fairway because they plugged. It was a great walk and I played as a single finishing in 2hrs 50mins. I can't wait to get back here when it is dry because the layout is cool.
solid golf course
course was saturated with mucho geese dropping. this course has a lot of potential being a tillinghast design. you can tell by the greenside bunkering is was an old time designer. love tillinghast layouts. will be back again over the summer and check it out under better conditions.
A Hidden Gem
Great Tiilinghast design for walking. The quality of the course has constantly improved since the new ownership has taken over.
Features
tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in good shape. only problem is the front parking lot has been off limits for over a month.
1st round at Suneagles
This was my first time at Suneagles and it won't be my last. Was surprised that the negative reviews I read previously have either been fixed or weren't as bad as they said. You can see the new owner is putting money into the course, but the greens were in fantastic condition and the layout is a classic design. Although I rode because I didn't know the course, I will never ride again as it looks like a very nice course to walk and I saw others walking there.
Water comes into play on a few holes making the selection of clubs off the tee important. The #4, #5 and #6 holes give you all that you could ever want from long par 4s. They will make you wonder how they faired with the clubs they had back in 1926 when the course was built.
Happy this course is now open to the public always and I will be back many times again.
The Course Has Improved Greatly
The ""new" Suneagles has established itself as a hidden gem that most people will not even give a second thought to playing. I have witnessed the transformation from the "old" Suneagles to the "new" one and am impressed on how the course has improved in such a short period of time. I probably should not be writing this review as I would prefer to keep this course off of everyone's radar screen. Oh, did I mention that it is a Tillinghast designed course!
Pleasantly surprised
Very delighted with all aspects of the course.Grounds are kept in excellent condition. The staff is accommodating and amicable. This was a first time experience and we hope to return soon.Quite a pleasant surprise and outing!
Don’t waste your time or money.
This place has fallen on hard times, there is nothing to recommend. Very sad how the condition here has gone down the drain. Don’t waste your time or money here.
renovations underway
Have not played this course for awhile, was very happy to see how much the new owner has improved the conditions in 6 weeks of ownership. Dead trees removed, sand traps restored in many places, edging cut, improved grass maintenance. I'm told this is just the beginning of a new era at Sun Eagles! I would highly recommend checking it out.
Very nice course to play
A.W. Tillinghast designed course so you know layout is very good course was in very good shape had a very nice day and would recommend highly to all
