More than I thought it would be
Never played this course before I really didn’t know about it I guess Mercer county took it over and it is a great course really enjoyed it, and the people working there were so nice especially Keith I believe was the starter and also Spring the lady inside was outstanding friendly ,nice so professional ,play this course you’ll enjoy it r.Greens pretty good coming back from aeration fairways in very good shape Teebox is pretty good and they cut the rrough so you can find your ball if you hit it into it very good
Unnecessarily difficult to play
Many issues:
1) The hard-core sales pitch to buy a membership before playing the course for the 1st time
2) Cart path only on a 95 degree bone-dry day. Absolutely no reason for cart path only.
3) Extremely high and unplayable rough
4) Greens very slow; like putting through fog. Incredibly slow
The course could be very nice but the operators chose to make it almost unplayable. Not a fun day.
Don't waste your money. Play anywhere else

Cut the rough and the tees- it’s like hitting tee shots out of the rough.

Course needs to be cut, greens, fairways and "US Open " rough !!

Mow the grass, Please!!
Course is undergoing a lot of work which is understandable - only a minor inconvenience. The fairways were perfect and greens are in good shape. The BIG problem with this course is that as soon as you are off a fairway or a green the grass is absurdly high. If your ball goes just a few feet off the fairway, its probably lost. You will however find a lot of other balls in the rough from previous golfers who obviously gave up trying to find them. High grass around greens makes chipping very difficult.

A Tale of Nuances
Rough was rather longer and thicker than anticipated. Greens were also a bit lackluster. Course design spectacular however. Very good value!

Great time - LONG rough
Love the lay out of the course. As someone who is not hitting GIR too often the long rough does no favors. Everything else is great but one of longest roughs have ever had displeasure to play.
Poorly maintained
The course is undergoing much refurbishment so there was a lot of torn up earth all around. The cart paths are far from the fairways and greens so if it’s cart path only be prepared to do a lot of walking. On the day we played the roughs around the green were super high and very difficult to chip from. Even the second cut along the fairways were so high that it was difficult to find your ball. Don’t know if this is normal or due to the wet conditions.

Great course/Great people
Starter was very accommodating! Pro shop guy friendly too. Beautifully manicured course with some undergoing improvements. 9.5 out of 10!
Inconsiderate
Booked a 3:50 hot deal. Arrived on the first tee to discover a kids league ahead of us whom required 30 mins per hole and we’re playing 9 holes. I left before reaching the first green and there were groups lining up to tee off behind us as well. I love kids but there should not be groups going off behind them on a weekend
Gem in the rough.
They are putting good money into this course. I didn’t play well but this is a very nice golf course. The course needs some more fertilizer and care but I see they are trying and this will be a top notch course in the near future. Good luck with all the improvements you are doing. Very pleased.
High Quality Golf course
It was very good with my two sons. They want come back to play next time. Absolutely it was high quality golf course.
Classic old school course
When this course was cared for properly, it was a gem of the region. Hopefully it will return to those glory days now that it a county course.
Not again
If I have choice to pick zero or negative star I would. The place charged 69$ to play,l. There are better muni course vs “HV country club”. There were no one at the turn for food/ drinks. The course has weeds all over the fairways, a bridge was closed and it took us on detour which took us around 3 holes to get to.... I can go on and on! Place just ran out money and that’s why it is open to public They should pay me to play there!
Not the old Hopewell
Myself not one to giving bad reviews but in the case it was out of pure sadness. Hopewell was always a great quality layout and kept in great condition.The GOLF staff was great and cart young man also. My wife and I are members of another local club we were looking forward to playing another club . But we’re really let down staff was inattentive in restaurant when making the turn and outside snacks bar not open.
As far as course play very slow greens and spotty condition fairways . Pace of play was terrible no ranger and 2 groups playing as 5somes . 45 minutes to play 2 holes we walked off.
A big disappointment from someone who played high school golf their and had their high school prom also their
Hope that they can turn this around . Again golf staff was great
