Downward Slide...
This course is not in good condition based on years past. The tee boxes are bare and full of weeds. The fairways had large dead spots and most of bunkers did not have sand (just dirt). The only good part was that the greens were in good shape. I paid only $28 to play. It is not worth much more than that.
Need some rain
Course was in rather poor condition. I have played here several times and this is by far the worst it has ever been.
tsaldancer
Was in good shape except for the bunkers didn"t have much sand in them, but that was pretty normal.
Had a very nice day and would like to do it again any time.
SLOW PACE on an Okay Course
I’ll start by saying I scored a last minute bargain on the greens fee for this course, and if I hadn’t my review would be harsher. A rare Friday afternoon surprise. The pro in the shop was very friendly and when I told him I’d rather play as a single he obliged but warned there were two foursomes ahead. This is all fine with me because I can be a slow player. So instead of being paired up with three others – who were not yet checked-in, off I went.
At the first hole there was a very friendly deuce that played and let me hit through, then we ended up joining up at the second. This is the prelude of the entire round. They got frustrated with the pace of play at the sixth and I merged with a threesome (that were drinking and swinging wildly.) I tooled w them for a few holes until another single came up behind us around 11 or 12 while waiting for the foursome in front to get off the green. I stayed back and played along with the single. Musical golf partners…lol. He too got tired of the pace and peeled off around 14. At this point the guys in front of us were hacking shots, drinking, cursing and throwing clubs.. So I would agree fully with other reviewers about the pace of play being the biggest caution at this place. One of the funnier moments were some kids in the surrounding houses blowing an air-horn as folks were swinging at one of the longer par tees. Comic relief in this tragic time warp. My tee time was at 1:24 and I finished my round at 6:20 (without a half-way house meal break).
The course layout is okay with some interesting holes. The tees, as others have said, are in awful shape. The pro told me they just sprayed them for weevils or some other pest, so a lot of them were sparsely grassed at best, and sandy. Fairways were decent. There was a lot of major storm damage that the course was naturally still trying to repair. Cart paths and the like were torn up by the severe storm, so its spotty. What few water coolers they had were empty.
I’d say early morning/twilight or bargain basement tee time deals may be the only way check out this place. Still, better than a few of the munis i've been on, but not by much.
Just Okay
Didn't know what to expect when I got there, and not overwhelmed by any stretch. Course conditions fair, but bunkers were awful and areas around greens poorly maintained. Overall amenities fair, but clubhouse had no food to go at the turn. Seems like missed opportunity. Refreshment cart similarly had no real food, just candy bars and chips. Tees in bad shape, but greens were pretty good. Probably won't return.
Friendly Staff
This is a really nice course--plays great. Staff are very accommodating. Tee boxes are not good!!! Maybe next season I hope!
Hit straight or play pinball
I played here in the spring and the conditions were decent from what I remember. My most recent round was a different story. The tee boxes were in the worst shape of any course I've ever played. Most fairways were ok, a few were pretty bad. They don't give you sand to repair divots. Overall it's a fun course but can be frustrating as all holes are completely tree lined. Food at the club house was pretty good. I might play here again but only at bargain prices.
This course has character
Awesome course. The tee boxes could be taken care of better and people should learn how to fix their divots when they make one.
Beginners be wary
Great looking course, seemed well maintained. However, it is very narrow between woods. Make sure to bring tons of balls, especially if you have a drift or angle on your shots. For the price, I think I'll come back after I get better. Ball loss plus cost of play seem expensive.
Run down, boring course
Don't even bother.... I'm confused why this course is called "Links" golf club considering it's covered in trees. Conditions were brutal from tee to green. Bunkers resembled a quarry. The layout is dull, and it's as if they're just squeezing every penny out of this place before it gets bulldozed. My opinion, spend your money elsewhere.
Poor
I played this course earlier in the season and it was an ok course. I payed $30 and the conditions were pretty good. This time I payed $50 which I figured would be ok for a Sunday afternoon. When I called the clubhouse the guy that answere was rude. He also was very short and seemed in a terrible mood when I arrived to pay. The starter was very friends and liked to joke (which I enjoyed). The cart girl was also very friendly. However the conditions were awful. The course hasn't been maintained since the first time I was there a 3 months ago, nor does it look like there is an attempt to maintain it. The course was very fast, and the bunkers were rock hard. They really need to water and maintain this place, and I don't mean turn the sprinklers on while people are on the course! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for more than $25-30!
good value, good deal
much better shape than when I played it last year, tee boxes a little dirty but the greens were in good condition
Nice layout but could improve
I played here a couple years ago so it's been awhile since my last visit but overall the experience wasn't bad. The greens and fairways were in great shape but the tee boxes were absolute junk. I also noticed that not all the bunkers were raked but that's more of who played before me.
Good value
This course was $35 for 18 holes w a cart. The course is not Augusta, but it is well maintained and playable. Great day!!
While We are YOUNG!
Course is in great shape, but at 4 hours and 15 minutes, still had 5 holes to go. No Rangers! No enforcement of dress code! No enforcement of pace of play. My wife, who plays quickly, was frustrated that men are so SLOW!
decent course
Average course. Could be a lot better. The bunkers are terrible and the tee boxes were not much better!
Greens were Good
The greens were in good shape but the overall condition of the tee boxes, sand traps and fairways was not good. The course needs some work.
Great Value
Overally, the course is a great value based on availability, cost, course condition, difficulty, and overall friendliness.
Course looks a bit run down. Put some $ into it.
Some tee boxes need an upgrade. Fences around the course are rotting away. Bridges are not very safe. But overall it's a great layout, short yet challenging. Hopefully owners invest at needed improvements.
Review
Course was ok, more sand traps than I've ever seen on a course. Groups were spaced too closely together, making it not fun to play due to constant waiting and rushing
