Very well maintained!

Tight course, but very well maintained and very friendly staff. We stopped after nine holes and bought cheeseburgers that were already cooked and simply reheated. It was very tasty and it did not slow down anyone's play. I am looking forward to playing there again! My golf buddy (who is usually critical of most golf courses) said he enjoyed the course and would also like to come again.

A nice course that will allow you to work on your game while enjoying a great day on the course.

The course is tight, so you are forced to manage your game, but it is a nice layout with some interesting holes. The greens were in great shape. Wishing there was a beverage cart. I would go back and play this course again.

worst course ever!!

I have nothing much to say about this course except it was the worst course i ever played on. I couldn't tell the difference between fairway and rough. Matter of fact, there are courses with better fairway than condition of their green.

-extremely poor greens
-poor layout

I would not play there even if they offer me money to play there JUST AWFUL...

A short but not too boring course

All the fairways are crowded together -- frequently we wait for people from the opposite direction; one tee area is full of Canadian geese. But overall an easy and enjoyable course, especially if you're walking.

would play again, but not on a league day.

Course was in decent shape considering the recent heat wave and superdry conditions. We had a 12:45 tee time. It would have been nice to know about the golf league starting early PM. We got stuck behind 3 groups of five players on the back 9 which really slowed us down to the point we left early. Mentioned this to staff leaving they were uninterested.

Decent Public Course

I play here often out of convenience. It's not too expensive and it's pretty easy to get on. The only problem I have with the course is that sometimes you can find yourself behind a couple groups of people which can turn what should be a sub-4 hour round into a 5 hour round. Overall a solid public course though.

NIce oldschool course.

Friendly Staff. The two guys at the pro shop were very nice especially the guy with the grey hair. Our tee time was at 2pm but the weather forecast was for thunderstorms and rain. We got there before 1pm and they got us out right away. The course was challenging because of the many dog legs. The fairways were maintained well except for all the goose feces. I guess its not their fault. I would recommend they put some ice cold bottled water out on the course using the honor system. It was hot and we did not bring water. Overall the we had a fun day. Thanks Knoll East!

Municipal course not up to snuff

This course is very tight, dangerous, and unsightly. Nets are protecting golfers from each other in many areas. Many people were playing from the wrong fairways. The maintenance on this East Knolls course leaves a lot to be desired. Bunker barely had sand and many had a ring of weeds around them. I will say the greens rolled well and
were in decent shape. I would rather stayed home and watched the golf channel. The highlight was the guy at the grill,he a great grilled sausage and cold beer. Keep off the grass.

Country Golf in Metropolitan Area

Upon first appearance it's like you stepped back into the 1970's. Have a practice green but no driving range (typical for Northern NJ). Staff was very laid back and friendly. Call it country golf because they don't have connecting golf cart paths and adjacent fairways have no borders, just open space. Although some of the holes appear to be nicer then others, perhaps they were part of the nicer, more expensive Knoll West Country Club. Either way made for a relaxing experience, didn't lose a ball because there are no real water/sand hazards, only tree lined narrow fairways. The Golf Now green fee was $56.25 w/ cart which seemed excessive for the condition of this course. But it was a beautiful Summer Saturday in NJ at 11:30am. Enthusiasts might find it unattractive and not challenging.

The course has potential to be an attractive course with nice features.

This course is ok at best

The rangers near clubhouse sending out foursomes and keeping things in line were rude. At the turn, we stopped for a hot dog and ranger asked each person in my group where the other 3 were and to step up and tee off or he would have to send someone n front of us. Keep in mind that we played front 9 in almost 2:45 and waiting on every hole. Course was in ok shape. They have nets up in play which takes away from shots you'd otherwise have without them. That being said, golf balls are flying all over the place. I wouldn't go out of my way to book another tee time here.

Not bad.

I thought this golf course was overall pretty good for what I paid for. Yes it's short, but with it being a short course, it was not easy. Some of the holes are very tight and you have to think twice about what kind of shot is needed to play. The pace of play I thought was excellent. The condition of the fairways might need to be maintained a little better, but overall they were fine. I thought the condition of the greens were really good. Haha, the best way to describe the pro shop: Tired!! You'll see why considering there was only a cash register, an ATM, and a TV. No golf balls, shirts, etc. Overall this is not a bad place.

This course is not well laid out

Although Knoll East itself is in good condition--the greens in particular--there is a serious problem with the layout. The holes are too close together, and on several of them, you are at risk of being struck by a drive or second shot coming from the opposite direction. This despite the erecting of large, high barrier nets (and more to come) on select holes. There is great need to plant large and thick trees between holes (as on 10 to 14).

There just isn't enough space for 18 holes . A fully designed 9-hole track would have worked out better.
