Harkers Hollow Golf Club

About
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

Harkers Hollow (Needs Work)
I heard mixed reviews about this course but wanted to evaluate myself. Firstly, the cart path is absolutely terrible. I don't believe the new owners have ever worked on this as part of their revitalization program. Tee boxes were very poor for the most part. Fairways were good and the course layout is challenging. I'm sure this course looked much better years ago as a private country club. I wish the owners well on returning it to the original beauty it once was while building a regular following. The restaurant was very good as was the service.
Excellent and challenging
Excellent golf course challenging holes in great shape
Course could have been in better shape
The staff inside the pro shop was extremely nice. The pace of play was pretty bad. I would say they definetely overbooked. The course layout is a lot of fun. Lots of elevation changes. The par 3s are really fun and challenging. Only 2 Par 5s on the course. The cart paths were horrible. What makes the course fun is it is basically on the side of a mountain, but because of that there was a lot of water damage/run off. I would say it is definitely worth playing one time. Im not sure I would go back.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your kind words about our staff and the enjoyable course layout. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced with the pace of play, overbooking, and the condition of the cart paths. We will take your comments into consideration as we continue to improve our services.
Not worth
We played the day after a rainstorm to which they let us know the day of that carts would not be available. We should have cancelled and requested a refund right then and there as the course was not very walking friendly. Most groups we could see ahead and behind us were struggling to keep up, and even saw a 4some give up half way.
Overall there were some rough patches (rocky roads, mountainous terrain, mud) that made it for a less than stellar experience. We drove out over an hour to play and I regret it deeply

We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your visit to our business. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration to improve our course conditions and communication. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Very Hard But Nice Course
Pace of play was great, green all slope towards the valley even when you might not think it does. On the back 9, if you hit a bad tee shot on some holes your going to be screwed because your ball is most likely running down the hill. Conditions were pretty good, layout is fun but challenging and the greens are small.
Incredible value
Such a hidden gem of a course. Really solid challenge from the tips. Narrow, sloped fairways. Small, well-protected greens. So glad the new ownership revitalized this course. It's as good as it's ever been. Greens roll smooth and fairways are in great shape.
Only one concern
Started as a 4some and experienced our first delay at the 4th tee which continued thru the 18th hole getting longer delays from hole 4 thru 16. At the 12th, one group was on the green, another standing at the tee box, and two groups waiting at the tee. But, it was a good day, the course was fine and I’m looking to return and would encourage others to play here as well.
harkers hollow
very happy improving every year!was paired with 2 idiots playing blue tees who couldn't break 200 they were also late they didnt belong on the course !split up and played as a 2some!!!!!!4hrs 10 min
Huge improvements
This course has come long way in a few short years. Greens were fantastic. Cart paths and some traps need work but what a big improvement.
