Harkers Hollow Golf Club
About
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

tough couse
A course where you have to no where to hit spots on the fairways and greens. Greens were bumpy and slow not worth a hour and a half drive.
Good agronomy Practices are showing
Disclaimer: I've been a fan of Harker's Hollow ever since the new owners have come on board. The course has flourished under there stewardship. The greens were aerated within 2 weeks and they putted extremely well. The fairways are in great shape after a long summer season. The tee-boxes have shown a lot of wear consistent with the amount of play they have and should be on the Super's to-do list. We teed off at 8am and were done by 11:45 - not bad for a Sunday in Sept in NJ. The most glaring problem with the course are the cart paths. The slope found on many of the holes necessitates the use of a hard surface and not loose material that would be flushed away in a heavy rain. The capital expenditure would be considerable for an improvement like this but my kidneys would thank the management.
Harkers initiation
Very friendly staff. Greens and fairways were in pretty good condition. Rough needed a cut. Layout was very hilly. Very reasonable greens fees made the round a good value. Restaurant had a good menu which made for a nice end to the day.

Harker
Overall a nice course and in good condition. I would recommend it during the week as it gets heavy play during the weekend.
Avoid Harker Hollow
Although a well kept course I was not particularly impressed with the course layout. Some of the holes on back nine felt like we were playing on the side of the hill and reminisce of a poorer laid out public course of which it once was. I would not recommend as their so many other courses in the area.

Great course
Course in great shape considering long dry hot summer.
Harkers Hollow - Recommend
HH has made great strides in bringing this course back from the brink. The superintendent is the MVP of the organization. His course stewardship and agronomy skills are top shelf. The staff is friendly and accommodating. You will have an enjoyable round at HH. If you have time, stop by the Uniontown grill. The food is well crafted and elevated beyond bar food.
Fun course to play!
The layout of the course is challenging but fair. The greens roll true.
It was a fun day!
No carts available
Purchase a tee- time for 3:00, 18 holes, cart included. Arrived at 2:25 and was told there were no carts available. Had to carry my bag, left after 9 holes. Staff is clueless and not helpful at all.

Disappointing at best
I understand the country is facing water restrictions, but this property is as hard as stone and it didn't get that way in one season. The cart path on the back 9 is in terrible condition and the tee box on 17 looks like a rock quarry! If you try and take a divot, you may break your wrists. The greens are extreamly slow, considering the water restrictions issue. I know they are trying, but the effort is not at all obvious on the course!

Value for the price, pretty basic course
Overall value, but average layout, pretty wide open with mature trees not hindering too much. Greens is good shape and rolled well, with some postage stamp greens.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Harkers Hollow Golf Club!
