A pleasant surprise
The course is in very good shape and the greens are very fast for a public course. The county has hired the right people to maintain the course which had fallen into disrepair a few years ago. They have taken out a slew of useless trees and opened up areas for better growth.

A great test of golf!
I love this course. It keeps me coming back again and again. Most of the time it’s wet which adds to the difficulty of the course. The Byrnes may appear easy because of it’s mostly straight fairways. The greens are some of the trickiest if played. Due to the mountains slanting to and fro..A must play.

Well maintained course. Long holes that give you some thought, but nothing to hurt your feelings.

Really really good layout
Really really good layout And a classic and truly historic course. Love this golf track. There is no driving range. No frills in the clubhouse. Just the opportunity to play where Bobby Jones wants played. This course does not drain the best so be aware that playing after rainy days can be soggy

Great course
Byrne is one of the best public county golf courses you will ever play. The holes are challenging and the layout fair. Greens are well maintained and overall conditions are excellent.

Fantastic golf course
Frances Byrne s as good as it gets for public golf in Northern New Jersey... The greens were fantastic and the layout is second to none. It is a country club layout for a great price and great course conditions. Highly recommend!

Nice muni
Long challenging course on the side of a hill. Conditions were excellent given the amount of play it gets. Fine golf experience.

Fun, challenging and beautiful course
I really enjoy testing my game on this difficult course. Lots of uphill shots, hilly fairways and some tough greens. It plays long and some of the par-4s could easily be par-5s. The back nine will keep you on your toes with lots of tough par-4s.
I've read other reviewers suggest that the staff wasn't the friendliest, but my experience has been much different. I've played three rounds there this year and from check-in to the starter to the rangers, everyone has been pleasant and friendly.
Course has been kept in great shape, too. Sometimes get crowded.
I will be back many more times this summer.

Great Value 20 Minutes from My Home
The course was in good condition considering the amount of rain experienced in New Jersey. The course is hilly with multiple elevations. Three holes were cart part only because of wetness. Recommended as an enjoyable course with friendly staff.

terrible customer service
i was tolf to stay away from this place because the poeple there are awful at there job... THEY WERE RIGHT!!!! EXTREMLY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL... SO SAD COURSE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL
