Better than expected
Last time I played this course, which was about 8 years ago,it was in poor condition. It was in better shape than before. Don't think the value of course is worth what we paid. Marshalls were available to enforce speed of play.
Unique layout
Fun layout requires all shots and clubs in your bag
Bugs make this course unplayable
This course has a major bug problem. I never thought bugs could be this much of a problem, but the course was unplayable.
Clouds of flies, standing stagnant water - AVOID
On over half of my shots today in a round that I would have just fled if I had come to the course in my own car, I had larvae in my eyes, nose, ears, throat, skin, everywhere. They were on the tee boxes, the fairways, the rough, the bunkers, the greens -- everywhere.
I'm not a fan of the layout in general, as there are more than a few blind shots and/or fairways that don't give you a level place to strike... but when you combine it with the absolute misery that is the insect situation, it's not a course I would wish on my worst enemy.
I want it to be good and trafficked, because I want to be able to play Mercer Oaks without it being absolutely locked down with traffic, but good Lord, the place was an absolute mess. I will never, ever, return. I would not play this place again for free. Neither should you.
Sloooowwwww play
Great course, good location, nice facilities but no help with the pace of play. A 5 hour 15 minute round on a Friday is unacceptable. The group in front of us should not have been allowed on the golf course ( let alone one of them was playing from the blues. ) Unfortunately the ranger was no help and was asked numerous times.
Overall Great Course. Challenging front 9
Went on a Monday. Grass had not been cut after the weekends. Fairways are generous, with lots of relief to the sides, but the tall grass is tough to get out of. Course is absolutely beautiful! Hole 9 had a big mud puddle right in the middle of the fairway about 225 out. Only bad spot on the course. Water hazards never really seem to come into play, but the bunkers are quite strategically placed. 13, I believe, has a green side bunker that ate my lunch. The bunker is all you can see from the tee box. Overall, a great course.
Great Public Course - Consistent condtions
Mountainview is probably my favorite of the four Mercer County courses. The course does a pretty good job staggering tee times, and you cannot get mad at the starter for individuals who just play slowly. I have seen much slower rounds at other public courses. This course offers moderate elevation change and has dog legs, uphill, and downhill holes which adds to a fun and diverse course layout from the basic long and straight courses. The course generally maintains great conditions, with minimal to no bare spots and mows the course regularly. The greens are always lush, green, and have a great appearance but they are not as fast as they look (still roll pretty "true"). For a golfnow rate, this place is a steal, but for regular rates, it might be a little pricey (depends on your wallet). If you have not played here, I highly suggest playing it at least once. I have not tried the food and I don't think there is usually a beverage court around the course. I live in Yardley and play this course most often for proximity and consistent good quality of course. The staff is always pretty friendly.
Ordinary
The people there were very nice but the course was plan nothing really to talk about
Pleasantly Surprised
First time playing this course and I could not find anything to dislike about this place. The course was in very good shape. I played at 3 pm so pace of play was not a problem, we were a twosome and finished in 3.5 hours.
I will definitely be back again.
Good course and very friendly golfers
Have a excellent time playing and meet with very good golfers thanks to golfnow app....
Nice course on border of Jersey
I always saw this course off 95 and decided to give it a go and was not let down. I will say the parking lot is far from the club house so you will want to drop off your clubs at the bag drop. Back to back par 5s to start is a nice challenge. The course was in good shape overall. Tee boxes are a little tight to tee off. Fun course layout I will be back again.
Mt View
Been coming here for years. Always in excellent shape.
Not tooooooo difficult but will still challenge. Watch out for #14, most players will be hitting 2nd shot from the 2nd fairway.
Good value
If you're looking for a well maintain course then this is it, conditions very really good, staff was very friendly, it was my first time playing here I'm looking forward to coming back.
JZ
First time playing this course. Course is in great condition. One of the better maintained public courses. Will play this course again
Mountainview
A challenging course with a variety of hole layouts.
The greens are not large and we'll bunkered and approach shots require accuracy.
I really enjoyed the day.
Nice Track But.... Aearted Greens
We played on a Saturday with a 12:50 tee time. The day was great overall but started out on a sour note when we went into the pro shop to report in and noticed a sign that said the greens had been aerated. Golf now and the course website said nothing of the greens being aerated. I asked when they were done and a sour women behind the counter said this past Monday. I mentioned there was nothing on golf now or their website stating this. She mumbled something inaudable. A man sitting in the office behind the desk chimed in that it is posted on their website calendar. Really? I'm supposed to know they have a website calendar to check for maintenance? Golf Now has aeration alert icons on their site, I find both the course AND Golf Now at fault for not posting there. I told the desk guy they should notify golf now to avoid problems for future golfers. He did nothing as the course still does not have an aeration warning posted. Enough of the rant. I haven't played in in over 10 years and I was pleasantly surprised how the course has matured over the years They built a new clubhouse (which by the way they are more proud of than the course. Their website goes on and on about the clubhouse and mention little about the course, but it is nice). They swapped nines a while back and the old back nine is now the front. The front is much nicer and more interesting than the back. It starts off with an unusual back to back par fives. The third hole is probable the best hole on the course although it does have a blind tee shot, the approach is awesome over water. The back nine starts out with three shortish non descript par fours before a long par three which is probably the best hole on the back. It finishes with two boring par fours. 17 is bunkerless and is like playing on a driving range. Nothing to frame the hole either in the fairway or at the green. The only interesting thing about 18 is the view to the green with some large old trees behind it snd the clubhouse to the left. The couse was suffering from some winterkill but overall conditions were good. Plenty of sand in the bunkers, tee boxes, greens and rough were in good shape. I think in a few weeks when the grass is growing full out and the greens have healed, this will be worth another visit.
Sandy greens
It is a great course. I just wish there was some mention that they were aerating the greens on the site. I would have went elsewhere for that price point. Was not happy when I got to the 1st green and realized
Got surprised when rate on Golfnow didn't include cart
I've played here before. The course is not worth 64 bucks. I was surprised that the golfnow.com site did not include the real price. Perhaps it was my fault for not checking into it but the other courses I choose all include a cart. The course was in good shape but I think everyone could be a little more friendly.
not bad for Spring golf
I have played this course many times before. As usual, the course was in "spring" shape. i.e. uneven rough, but the greens were still pretty fast. They were also a bit uneven but conditions will improve as we get more toward summer. We had a brutal winter here in NJ so, overall, the course was in pretty good shape. Only a few holes were cart path only.
Nice Layout
First trip around this track and I enjoyed it very much. Very cold day so I was the only one out. Can't wait to play here again on a mild day. Conditions were very good, Leaves were cleared.
