Nice golf course
Fun course to play. Thought the pace of play was a little slow at four and a half hours long. Would definitely play it again
Good value for a challenging course
Good layout! Decent greens below avg condition but not bad for the price. This course could be special with some TLC and care to the tee boxes... terrible pin locations...
Disapointed
Greens were incredibly slow, not well manicured course at all. For a $30 hot deal I was expecting much more
Majestic Oaks Signature is a joke
What a joke. The architect tried way too hard on this one. Excessively bunkered green complexes, poorly conceived tee shot landing areas, and poor sight lines. From the back tees this is 7200+ yards and a rating of over 75, yet this isn’t hosting any significant events because it’s not a fair test of golf. The tricky greens don’t roll true or hold shots, even those with sufficient spin. Pace of play is ~4:30+ because anyone who isn’t a single digit handicap has to grind beyond belief to make bogey or better. The 10th hole is nowhere near the clubhouse, leaving a ~200 yard or so walk to the grill (where there are no quick food or drink items for the turn) to refill your water, which you’d better do since there are no coolers on the course. At $45/person, they are simply stealing. One of the worst values in the Twin Cities. Don’t bother!
Challenging Course
Lots of trees and dogleg holes make hitting the ball straight a must if you are going to score. Challenging greens with lots of movement make accuracy important too. Looking forward to playing again.
Majestic Oaks Redux
We played this course quite often in the 90’s when we lived in the TC. The course has grown up in the last 20 year’s. Still very nice, with nice views and lots of wildlife. Many more houses on course but this doesn’t impact experience. We will be back!
Eh... Okay
The course is okay, layout can be confusing on some transitions and the grass needs to be cut. Bunkers weren't in the best shape but the greens were fairly good. A nice set of tees so you can play a range of distances. I enjoyed the course through about 7 holes and then it started to go south. Staff is fine, clubhouse isn't anything special. Restaurant has good food, and they give you a free appetizer with each round. That is pretty cool. Decent course, a little expensive for what you get. Not a bad course, but definitely average.
Nice layout, a bit shaggy...
It was a good layout, good greens, rest of course was a bit shaggy. Not as crisp as you would expect for the money. It had been several days since fairways were mowed. Actually caught a flier in the fairway.
Unfortunate, could be nice track.
Get out of the way for the tournament
I like the course overall but from the first time I step on the first tee ranger was telling us to get going 10 minutes before our teatime none of the tees on theTeebox were set up there all pushed to the side then there's always an overabundance of grass clippings everywhere on the course. If you want to plan Friday morning you're going to run into the tournament issue every time I play there on a Friday morning it's the same story.
Great challenge
If you can draw the ball this course is for you, playing a fade does not bode well here, fairways tight and unforgiving. Course in excellent shape and has tee boxes for all skill levels.
Staff needs to change
I have played this course a lot over the years. The pro shop staff is usually older and not service oriented. My last round was this past Sunday. I stood in line to check in while the two employees continued to answer the phone and not help the customers in front of them. I had booked through Golf Now and had to fight with them to honor the price. They then told me not to use it because they didn't understand the system. My son pays for the monthly unlimited driving range pass and was questioned about why he was wasting balls and hitting half shots. He was told he shouldn't be hitting balls if he is swinging like that. I will say that the actual pros have been easy to deal with and the course is in really good shape.
Majestic Oaks Signature Course
I really enjoyed this course (again), even tho' it was rainy and cold outside. The greens were a little slower than I remembered, but they had just aerated them a couple of weeks prior to my tee time.
Ok course
I didn't feel it was anything special, but enjoyed the round all the same. If you're in the area, it's worth $20 to play it.
Majestic Oaks - Signature
I like the layout of the Signature course. It is well bunkered and has many tree lined fairways. We played the gold tees - just over 6300 yards. The greens are very good. The fairways and tees are in average condition.
A good experience overall
First and foremost, I would like to thank GolfNow for offering such a spectacular deal. $15 for walking 18 holes on the weekend was quite the bargain in comparison to the standard prices.
The course was in good condition but the greens could be much firmer. However, all in all, I had a great time except for the twosome in the cart behind us. Walking is my preferred choice when playing a golf course but even when keeping up to a good pace, the cart demographic and the attitude of "slow play" is a frequent vexation in my perspective viewpoint. Even the ranger thought we were at a good pace, but throughout the round we felt a persistent pressure behind us. The golfing experience is meant to be enjoyed and savored, not just passed by with no regard for the aesthetic quality and topography of the golf course and with the conviction for playing at a near level of competence.
Good shape
Course was in excellent condition and the pace was great. 18 holes w cart complete in 3.5 hours.
Rude Ranger and Poor Tee Time management
We were a double that had two singles placed right behind us. The desk management could have told us about that, so we could have let them go ahead of us. Instead of feeling rushed, we also had the ranger interrupted a swing when my partner was on the tee box. He also reminded us two and half hours to have the carts off the course. We were already on the 12th hole.
I normally love Majestic... last visit was rough. Tina the on course Drinks lady was very friendly and so was the bar staff.
