Pine Hills Country Club
About
Pine Hills Country Club sprawls cross 165 acres of Long Island's protected Pine Barrens. The golf course plays long at over 7,000 yards from the back tees but it is a playable and fair test. It is challenging as well with quite a bit of water and sand coming into play throughout. Towering, mature pines also line narrow fairways. One of the most difficult holes is the par-4 11th. This dogleg left is one of the many holes with water and it also features a green that is severely sloped from back to front. While the golf course is the main attraction, Pine Hills is also known for having the area's best public practice facility. The club boasts a driving range with target greens, a putting green with a 9-hole practice course, and a chipping green with a greenside sand trap.

Reviews
nice/fair course
had a great time golfing this saturday with my son on this course, it was a fair course with great potential,
1) please install the blue tees
2) please roll the greens, they could be great
Favorite Course
Pine Hills is an excellent course that is well maintained.greens are excellent ! I always enjoy my round.
Great course great value.
The course is difficulty is the wood and sharp dog legs on several of its hole. You must be careful to manage the course and not just swing away. Guys working in the pro shop are very friendly and helpful.
In superb shape
Coarse was in great shape. Nice distance. Open fairways. For less that 40 dollars, you can't go wrong!!!
Way to early in the season for the course to be this bad
The greens were terrible for this time of year. Numerous patches of dirt and very bumpy. The tee boxes were beat up on most holes.
Course with character
Nice course well maintained. A little hike from Nassau but well worth the ride. Will be a beauty in the summer months when all the foliage will be in full bloom. The greens played a little slow but that's golf...need to adjust accordingly.
Pine Hills
We played 5 holes in a cold rain and quit--lost our $79 because course rain policy only comes into effect if they close the course.
bad first impression
Fairways were being punched. was told to go to back nine first. was supposed to be paired up, but other three must have gone to front nine and played there. played back nine and skipped a couple of holes. Foursomes in front would not let me play through. went to front nine and after five holes was past the aerators. Greens very lumpy and bouncy. couldn't putt more than 2 ft before without bouncing off of line.
Best Public Golf Course On Long Island
This was by far the nicest public golf course on Long Island. The pro shop was the nicest I have ever been to with a grade a shop staff. I cannot wait to come back to this great place!!
Great course
One of the best golf courses in Suffolk County. Fairways are nice and long. Extremely well-kept. A pleasure to play on this course.
Hidden secret on the East End
Excellent conditions this early in season, greens in fair condition considering the harsh winter we had. fairways very good. pace of play very good, would highly recommend.
Pro Shop Not Very User Friendly
We were scheduled for a 6/22/15, 1:50 tee time for two, purchased 2 days in advance. On the morning of 6/22 the weather forecast changed to severe thunderstorms for about 4:00 PM that afternoon. We were able to change our schedules and we headed out to Pine Hills hoping to get an early start. We arrived at 11:50, 2 hours before our tee time and we were thrilled to see that nobody was waiting to go out - the place was a ghost town. We entered the pro shop and approached 'Mr Congeniality' who seemed really thrilled to be there. We explained to him that we were able to get out East early because of the severe weather scheduled for 4 PM and we were hoping to get out early to get most of our round in. Mr Congeniality's response (a white male about 65) was "You booked that online. We don't make any money on that so I can't send you out before 1:50 PM". When I pointed out to him that there were NO golfers waiting to go out his 'professional" advice was to call and cancel the GolfNow reservation and pay him to go out now. We retired to the bar that was upstairs, met a very nice bartender and watched out the window for the next 90 minutes and not one foursome went out. At 1:20 we went back down to officially check in and Mr Congeniality now states "I can send you out a little early". So by the time we loaded up the cart we got a 20 minute head start on what was for the most part an abandoned golf course.
Except for the curmudgeon in the pro shop the day would have been a perfect five, the greens which had been fairly recently aerated were true, course conditions were excellent for so early in the season and the course and restaurant/bar staff other than Mr Congeniality were all very competent, accommodating and friendly. And we finished 18 holes in 3 hours and 5 minutes (didn't run into a single golfer out there).
Ughh Aerated Greens - had no idea
The course was in a good shape but the greens were aerated which was/ is a mess. The pace of play was great the first couple of holes and then it went down hill fast. There were no rangers present to get play moving. It's unfortunate that it was only 3 groups playing slow....hopefully this changes in the future!!!!
greens
early in the season greens were inconsistent
some were fast others slow ,fairways were in good shape
Consistently Good
Course is in overall good shape for this time of year. They had punched some small holes on some of the greens, but it did not affect the putting much at all. This course throughout the year is one of the most consistent in terms of condition. Some long par 4's that play as par 5's if into the wind. Definitely recommend playing here and enjoying lunch and a beverage at the restaurant. Food is always good and has a great atmosphere
loved it.
worth the hour+ ride. I stared playing 1 year ago. This was eighth course I been on and favorite so far. They didn't have alternate greens for the ones being worked on. We will be back later in the year.
Great early April conditions
First time playing Pine Hills CC. Conditions were far above average for his time of year. No temporary greens, bunkers were great, fairways were also in great condition. I was thoroughly surprised by how fast the greens were. Back tee was closed (where I usually play from) but considering the 20+mph winds, 6500 was plenty of course. Good mix of long and short par 4s, reachable 5s, but only 3 par 3s (par 73) I was impressed. Pace of play was pretty slow, especially the back 9, but that could be because of the wind and a couple 4somes of terrible players ahead of us. I will be very happy coming back to challenge this course from the back tee, which measures out at 7132. Food was awesome inside after our round. This is a must-play Sufflok Co course, worth every penny for the greens fees, and at $35 including cart, is hard to beat. 2 thumbs way up.
Good for December
I found the course to be in great condition for December. The greens needed to be rolled but were good. Considering the greens fees for neighboring courses Pine Hills is a bit over priced for winter rates.
The course is in excellent shape and the greens are fast but true.
The course is in excellent shape and the greens are fast but true.
Hidden Gem
I enjoyed the course as well as my playing partners, I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this course was. we got an early start because of fog, we were fortunate to hit our drives into the fairway on the first hole as we played the fog burned off. the course was beautiful as most of the courses I play off of GolfNow. Fairways are tight but enjoyable, greens were huge, undulating, & fast, getting caught above the pin was treacherous, sand play was good, and holes with hidden water protecting the green and 1 fairway was actually exciting, the 12th hole, par 5 hitting down into a valley after the tee shot was my favorite. Can't waitto play the course again.
