Pine Hills Country Club
About
Pine Hills Country Club sprawls cross 165 acres of Long Island's protected Pine Barrens. The golf course plays long at over 7,000 yards from the back tees but it is a playable and fair test. It is challenging as well with quite a bit of water and sand coming into play throughout. Towering, mature pines also line narrow fairways. One of the most difficult holes is the par-4 11th. This dogleg left is one of the many holes with water and it also features a green that is severely sloped from back to front. While the golf course is the main attraction, Pine Hills is also known for having the area's best public practice facility. The club boasts a driving range with target greens, a putting green with a 9-hole practice course, and a chipping green with a greenside sand trap.

Reviews
course more challenging than it appears, combination of features.
Pinehills country club has always been a well maintained course. The greens were a bit thin in places but they have had a lot of rain lately. The fairways were a bit long in length but for mid summer it was quite nice. Some of the sand traps i "visited" could have used a bit more sand but all in all a nice pleasant round. reasonable pricing also.
awesome course and value.
Tremendous shape for a course on LI in August. Layout is great, value is amazing and the post round food, drink and atmosphere were great. Plus its 15 minutes from home. What more can you ask for?
Not their best effort...........
This is my groups "home course". We have played there literally hundreds of times over the years, though this is the first time booking using GolfNow. The pace of play was awful..........front nine in 2 hours 15 minutes and back nine just slightly under 3 hours.........called the pro shop to complain about the bunching up at hole 11 (2 groups waiting to hit when we pulled up), but was basically blown off. One green (7 I think) was half torn up with a bobcat with a storm fence running through the rest of the green. (We were not told of this during check-in)......With the variety of courses within 20 miles of here, they need to do better trying to maintain customer satisfaction instead of just taking our money and pushing as many people out on the course as possible.............
Decent Course Need Marshalls
The course was in decent condition except for one green, the rest looked bumpy but actually rolled decently. Pace of play was the big story, we unfortunately got behind a foursome that fell at least three holes behind but were able to get by them at the turn and payed the back in less than 2 hrs to save the day. Saw the cart girl often but not a single Marshall all day.
Super slow, no rangers.
Myself and 4 groups behind me could not finish and they actually came out and asked us to return carts on the 16th hole. About 5 greens are dying.
Good Course
I thought Pine Hills was a good course. The day I played was rainy and was able to get through 18 holes. The early morning price for $45 was great. The course is open and forgiving. I am not an expert golfer but enjoyed playing this course. Would recommend it to anyone.
Nice lay out
The course had some good character. The front nine and back are different which is a great feature in my opinion. Some long holes and shorts holes which was great too.
shoddy golf course
Poor conditions. Most of the greens were awful. On several of them it was apparent that the hole location hadn't been changed in many days. Also, despite the fact that you paid for 18 holes, they were randomly letting 9-hole players start off on the 10th tee, so we had to interrupt our round to wait for these interlopers to tee off. Also, there was no starter at the first tee so it was kind of a free-for-all. Also, there was a really funny typo on the scorecard, which indicated that there were two 15th holes. That didn't affect play, of course, but it was an indication of a lack of attention to detail that permeated the whole place. Finally, I gave the staff a "cordial" rating because the guys in the pro shop were friendly, but the two people I encountered in the food service area were cold and brusque. All in all it was a really poor golf experience. Good thing the weather was nice.
great course. challenging yet fair
except for one green which was beat up a bit, the rest of the course is in great shape.
Pretty good course
Pine Hills is located in the pine barrens of eastern Long Island, so naturally, most of holes are lined by trees.
Between the trees, dog-legs and blind shots, the course requires good strategy and accuracy to score well.
Some key points:
* I have played twice in the last two months (Sunday early afternoon and Wednesday morning), and blue tees were not available on either occasions.
* The greens showed some wear and tear since the last time I played two months ago.
* Play speed was slow, as there was a slow foursome in front of us. The course could use roving ranger to maintain pace of play.
* The facilities are well above average - putting green, chipping green and driving range off the grass are available.
Challenging and fair. Good condition, great practice facility.
Played at 6:40 am. Pace of play was good. Course is well maintained. Staff friendly. Greens on the front were aerated and sandy so it made putting challenging. We prefer the back nine over the front. It is a more scenic and diverse layout. Paid $42.00 with a cart which is a good price for the area.
pleasant course, all shots visible.
Pleasant course to play. wide fairways. No hidden shots. Very slow play. Needs to have a ranger driving around to speed up play. Also too many cigarette butts on the tees, fairways and greens. Plenty of empty beer bottles. Overall good value for the money.
Good pace, nice greens, good value
Our twosome played on a weekday afternoon. We had a few waits early then flew on the back nine. We have had a heat wave yet still the greens were receptive and well keep worth a try
My favorite course
We drive from Nassau County 50 minutes to play this course. The round averages 4 to 4 1/2 hours. The course is in good condition but the greens could be a little faster. That being said, we love this course. There are several challenging holes and the par three on the back side plays almost 200yds.. The value is great and the staff are very cordial. I am a 14 handicap and 68 years old.The woods are deep but open so even if you hug a tree you can still get up and down. Lots of fun, go play!
Fun and challenging
Great greens, smooth and true but fast. Doglegs go both ways. some lengthy par 4s. Good mix of long and short par 3s. Par fives are reachable on a gamble.
Good price bad experience
First the gentleman at the pro shop was not paying any mind to the paying costumers at the golf course trying to get out and play, instead he only answered phone calls both professional and his own social calls. I waited in the pro shop for more than 10 minutes at the counter before he even spoke to me and I was the only one in there. The course was pretty nice but we only got in 13 holes in 4 and a half hours.
Overbooking results in glacial movement play
Extremely slow round partly due to holiday weekend but also due to overbooking as was evident when numerous golfers checked in for their tee times and there were no carts available. This hints at poor management of bookings.
