Has it's pro's and con's
Used to come here often when i was a little bit younger, with my Father and Grandfather. My buddy and I got a hot deal 18 bucks 18 holes and a cart. For this deal it is totally worth your money. The staff is super friendly, and so was everybody we ran into on the course. The layout of the course makes absolutely zero sense and is confusing at times. The tee boxes overall were below average. fairways were well kept, and the greens were fairly good overall. The cart paths, however, are the worst i've seen. Pace of play was average... slower golfers let us through in the beginning no problem and it was smooth sailing from there. While it is a smaller course and certainly is good iron practice and good for beginners, there are some holes where you have to take your driver out, and even the experienced golfer can struggle a bit due to the very narrow fairways, topography of the fairways, and tricky water hazard placement. Overall it was a great day out and a great place to take my buddy for his first outing of the season, especially for the price we got! Not the best smaller executive course you'll ever play and not even the best in the area, but definitely give it a shot for a round or two, i don't think you'll be dissapointed.
Great
This is a great course. The staff is super friendly and everything is clean and professional.
Very pleased with the course. Had a great time. Played very fast.
Par 3 challanges
Great opportunities to work on your par three playing challenges. Great course layout: compact but not on top of other players.
Hope that there is money in the Town budget to resurface the cart paths in the near future.
Rookie going with me
The course was average at best. The greens were great shape. Car paths need tlc. Great for the price. Short course and fun to play if your a long hitter. Will play here again. Jr's is a good place to eat after your round.
Better Courses Elsewhere on LI
Very challenging executive type course. Greens were perfect the fairways grass less. Tough to play off of mud. Not at all well manicured. Certainly many better courses on Long Island to play. Save your money and look elsewhere if you want to,play golf. 1000 percent better would be Mill Pond town course.....
Can't beat it it's the best
Good course trees make it tough fairways narrow at times fun to play Usually weekdays are not too busy
Golf course
Needs updating, signs for holes so know where to go
Small course
Lots of par three's as a 28 handicap I had to play the blue tees. The tee boxes were soft enough to get your tees into even the ones with no grass, Fairways were weed infested. It was remarkable the Greens were in such good condition, promote that guy to work on the fairways. Placement of the bunkers and narrow fairways made it fun. The cart paths have seen better days ten years ago. You must be cognizant of golf balls be hit from other holes since they are packed so close together.
Cheap
Very cheap round of golf. Course was in ok condition, a lot of par 3's.
Rolling,Rolling,Rolling
The tee boxes are horrible, the fairways are OK. The greens are very well kept. The golf cart path looks and feels like a construction site. Not good for bad backs! Bring your back brace.
Value Course
For a 7am tee time for $39 with a cart, you get what you pay for. The course conditions are acceptable but nothing great but the greens are well maintained and better then I expected. As previously mentioned, the layout is a bit odd with tee boxes too close to greens and cart paths are in rough shape. Good course if you just want to get a round in for cheap.
Good value. Run down
The price could not be beat: $16 for 18 holes with a cart on GolfNow. The paths for the carts were in horrible shape. The fairways were good, the greens were excellent. The course layout is awful. There was no one on the course due to the high temperatures ( 90+°). There is no refreshment cart and the restaurant behind the pro shop would not sell beer to bring on the course There is a soft drink machine outside the pro shop.
If it weren't for the signs showing you where the next hole is you can easily get lost. There's no logic to the layout of the holes
Gas powered golf carts were very powerful. You need to drive slowly or else the potholes in the paths would knock your balls around!
municipal course
the condition of the course is fair. pace of play today was reasonavble.
Course is good for beginners
Course is in good shape. only problem is must holes a par 3 and the course lay out is not very good each fairways and tee boxes are very close to each other
Town course needs help
I'm giving Rolling Oaks a three star rating. It should be a two star, but lack of recent rain has maybe affected this dry course. Aside from that, staff were helpful and friendly, but course needs an overhaul.
Cart paths are in poor condition, pot holes etc. !
Parking lot shared with J&R Steakhouse is also in poor condition.
This course has been there for a long time. Think its time that the town of Brookhaven spend a couple bucks on it.
