reachable greens
most green s we re in my range . the green rolled true with readable breaks , no one pushing us which made a relaxed round.
Bunkers
Overall the course is in good shape. The bunkers are rocky and devoid of sand. The staff was very helpfull they really should tell about the swamp on 18, or you could read the map LOL.
Pleasantly Surprised
I didn't know anything about the course when I booked my tee time, but the course was very well kept and offered some nice challenging holes. The course is relatively short as it is only a par 65 so you'll be able to leave your driver in the bag for more than half the holes. All in all it's a nice course for a good price.
a pleasent suprise
The course was in nice shape except it needed some more sand and the cart paths could some help. staff was friendly All said and done a nice course
Meh
This is a good value course if you pay $12 on a hotdeal, but otherwise it is not one that I would recommend. The fairways are high, the sand traps are filled with rocks, and the tee-boxes are non existent. The course is riddled with first time golfers, which can make playing on a weekend frustrating, and the only sign of a "ranger" is a high school girl that asks if you paid for 9 or 18 after the 9th. Some of the people that golf there have little respect for the game (golfing without shirts on and chugging beers on the green.) One positive thing I can say is that while the greens were slow, they were well kept. I wouldn't recommend this course without a good hotdeal, and even then be wary when booking on a weekend.
great greens
it's a short executive course. Excellent for practicing irons but the greens are in great condition and very fast.
Need to be super accurate
Course is not forgiving at all, not only left to right but front to back as well. Need to be extremely comfortable with your distances because going long on some holes by even a smallish margin can lead to an OB.
needs up date.
cart paths are atrocious.more pot holes then secondary roads.the bunkers are like cement.greens are spoty and fast.
Excellent Shape for a public Course
I've played many courses on Long Island and I must say maintenance and grounds keeps the place in great shape. Green fairways and beautiful greens. Upkeep reminds me of where I caddie, a private club on the gold Coast (North Shore).
Well done guys.
First time visiting.
Great first experience ! Played with three other friends who have never played the coarse as well. Coarse was in excellent shape, staff was friendly and the greens were fast.will play there again
So much potential
good round, its in better condition than the past. i live down the road and It's expensive without a golf now tee time. My friend and I came here because I screwed up the tee time at another course. We had a lot of fun and we were done in about 3 hours. (18 holes). You don't really lose balls so go out and enjoy it for what it is. A nice challenging course, you don't really need a driver. Have fun
Worst Golf Course I Have Ever Played
The last two people who reviewed this course must have worked for them. The place was an absolute mess. I seen things yesterday I have never seen on any golf course ever. Signage is terrible, and embarrassing. There is no fairway, tee boxes, or green's they are all cut to a normal courses rough level. The only good thing I saw at this place was the Pro Shop attendant who was extremely professional.
Course Rating
I have played this course many times with my wife. Its a couple friendly course. Conditions are good for this course .
Constantly Improving !
Rolling Oaks is a lovely course -narrow for some folks- but I love the "country atmosphere" (like a walk in the woods!).
Over the past several years, the maintenance has been constantly improving -- trimming trees, working on the greens & fairways. This year seems to be their best yet! The greens were in fine shape and the fairways overall were great (they have some spots where water tends to accumulate in heavy rains, but each year they seem to correct more of those).
Some folks have remarked that it is in th best shape they've seen in over 25 years!! Cudos to management & maintenance!!
Probably won't return here
I made a tee time and even though it was raining I still showed up with the two other people in my group. When we got there they had a sign up saying that the course was closed, and when I tried to call there was no one in the pro shop to handle cancellation of reservations or make notifications about the course being closed for the day. I realize this is a small operation and is essentially a par 3 course but there needs to be some level of professionalism at a GOLF course.
next step up
I,m into having fun and this is a good mid size course to play. If you don't like the the big ,long time consuming courses. This is the one. I will play here a lot more and I'm already telling my friends.
If You Just Enjoy Playing Golf
Play this course......
Yes, there are better manicured courses out there; and yes, the course is in need of some repair.......but you're not crowded or rushed, the greens fee is reasonable, and the course offers a challenge for those who hook or slice.
Is it the best course I've played? Certainly not......
........but I enjoyed the round, only lost one ball, and wasn't surrounded by a bunch of people who talk a better game than they play.
rolling oaks
Greens are in great shape. Cart paths are in poor condition. Course needs major work.Patchy grass areas. Tee boxes in poor condition.
Executive but challenging
Although this is an executive course the tree lines and small greens make it an interesting day. There is also a revine between 17 & 18 that provides some fun. Great course to work your irons and short game.
WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN
The course was so poorly maintained. Terrible course. Tee boxes were either dirt or covered in weeds. The "sand" traps were filled with rocks and dirt. The fairways were rock hard and in poor condition. Was not worth the money for this course
