Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club
About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

Last round before winter
Course in great shape and nice to see a crew of guys doing leaf blowing and removal
Smithtown Landing Better than Ever
Smithtown Landing pumped a bunch of money into the course in the last few years. It was allows one of my favorites and is even better now. Cant wait to see what else they will be improving next Spring.
Disappointed in SL . Not what I expected
I have played this course for about 30 years . Have always enjoyed playing SL as the Mgt. has always done a great job in keeping the course in great shape and green fees that I always thought was a fair price . . I don’t know what changed this year but to Charge over $ 70.00 for a weekday round in the afternoon for a course in this condition is ridiculous . Not to mention the 5 hour round . This course should be no more than a $ 40.00 fee with these conditions and at that price I am being generous . In looking at other reviews I see several other people feel the same as I do . . Like others I have said take your money and play other courses right now .
Tee boxes are supposed to have grass
Course is a disgrace..
Almost half the tee boxes are dirt. Literally not a blade of grass..I was informed by 2 staff members this was due to the drought. Did they drought also cause the boxes to lack a single level spot to tee the ball ,?
Burnt out fairways. Hardpan everywhere. Pot holes the size of basketballs along cart path. Greens littered with weeks of unrepaired or maintained ballmarks.
Again, was informed the drought caused this and the conditions were the same everywhere. Really ? I've played 30+ courses on long island and another dozen from CT up to Mass where amidst the drought they.managef to find a way to grow and water grass.
Add in herding people off every 8 minutes like cattle by the starter who likes to yell at groups to hurry and tee off when the group ahead is barely 200 yds out and you have the makings for what I describe as literally the worst track I played on long island in 30 years.
Shame. This used to be a decent place to play a round. Spend your day and money elsewhere and you will have made a wise decision.

Long round
Play from the blues (tips)… course is still shorter than many but it’s painful the over 5 hour round… maybe starter can think of better ways to enhance the flow and have less wait (start with have at least 10-12 mins between tee times? A couple of tee boxes had no grass but this has been a drought summer 2022
Not coming back again sadly
I’ve been playing here since I was a kid, and after 22 years of playing here I don’t plan on coming back again. I went out as a solo on a Saturday and I walked off the course after playing about 5 holes in 2 hours. I didn’t see a single ranger out here moving people along, and it was about a 15-20 min wait at the tee box then another 10 min once you’re trying to hit up to the green because people are so slow. They course wouldn’t refund me my full purchase so I’ll have to take it up with my bank. Absurd to see how little they care about the golfers there, they just want to pack the course as much as possible.

Slow play
Over 5 hrs to play 18 holes groups in front were very slow
$70 DOG TRACK…. Go elsewhere
8 minute tee times, DEAD tee boxes, useless starters, people everywhere, and $70!!!!!!!!!
This place is the most horribly run golf course. The tee boxes are dead, theres 3 to 4 groups on every hole and when you call the pro shop to find out why it takes 3+hours to play 9 holes, “its just busy”.
No its not just busy, and no every course doesnt have 8 minute tee times, just you bozos. If you’re an average to an above average golfer, take your business elsewhere. You’re in for a long day. The mindset of these people charging $70 for this dump is hilarious and may God have mercy on your souls. Take your time and money to a different track. Trust me….

Always a good time here
Very good course, and challenging for the average player. The staff and overall atmosphere makes for a great day out.
Nice Course…But Pace of Play
Course was beautiful but pace of play was aweful. Had a 3:28 tee time, didn’t tee off till 4:15. Groups ahead of us couldn’t hit the ball straight or past 50 yards. Marshalls did not encourage to speed up pace, couldn’t even finish a full 18 before it got too dark. Will think twice about booking again.
