Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club
About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

Phenomenal course, don’t expect to play on pace.
I’ve played at this course multiple times over many years. The course itself is a great layout. It provides a good challenge but never does it feel unfair. A lot of score-able holes. The course is always in amazing condition. The greens are pure. Nothing to complain about on that end. My biggest complaint with this place is the pace of play. We were a threesome and it took us 5 hours to play. The three of us shot mid 80s. The guys in front of us were slow as was the group ahead of them. No one enforces pace of play and it’s frustrating. If you are in a hurry and need to play a round in a decent amount of time. This isn’t the place for it. The tee times are 8 mins apart which is probably the biggest contributor to this issue. Great course, terrible pace of play. I play this on a deal time because time is money.
Stay away in afternoon
Tee off was approximately noon, extremely slow play, foursome in front did not care how long it took to play hole, quit after 5 hours and did not play hole 18. No rangers on course. Four par 3’s golf cart only which is normal, then four par 4’s cart path only, so basically 1/2 course cart part path only, just terrible. On hot days or older golfers not the place to play. Stay away, I will never go back, I thought it would be better after a three years not playing there again and would not recommend.
SLOW
5+ hour round. Called for the ranger and all he did was tell us the 2 holes were cart path only. Also there’s no reason for 4 holes to be CPO. Ridiculously slow round with below average greens to be charging 75+ dollars.
Painfully slow
2.5hrs for 9holes. Double groups waiting on nearly every hole.
I asked for my own cart(willing to pay extra if necessary) and they said "we dont give singles a cart, unless its a threesome" I argue, whats the diff im a single or a group of 3, same number of carts go out. (i was a single but paired up with 2 other ppl)
Putting on the BQE
We were so disappointed with the conditions of the greens. The aeration holes were filled but the overflow of sand and debris made it impossible to hole out even 3 footers. And the speed was so difficult to judge as each green had different speeds. I hit a very high spinny approach that wound not hold the greens. It was shameful to charge full price to play in these conditions.
Great course, rough greens.
Course has a great layout, but currently the greens are in rough condition… recovering from aeration, uneven, and lightly sanded, so putting it not easy. I’m sure in a month or so the greens will be back to their usual great shape. Facilities are upgraded. Will be back next month.
Rough Shape
I understand it is the beginning of the season, but the course is in really rough shape. The greens were aerated, which is fine, but they were hard as concrete. Fairways were okay, but anything else was barely grass. Lots of dirt and patchy grass leading to terrible lies. I've played this course many times, and this is the worst I've ever seen it.
