Great potential, poor maintenance.
Awesome course if it would be kept better. The conditions were on the lower end of a public course with weeds and grass on tee boxes. Some greens look like they’re in high school facing an evil bout of acne. Pace of play was really, really slow.
Otherwise a fun and challenging design. Generally open and approachable even in the rough. Some really nice long holes that will put your distance clubs to the test.
Poor Conditions
Crab grass on most tee boxes and some fairways. A handful of greens were in good shape but most had dead spots where you were putting on dirt. Teed off at 145 and finished at 630. Won't be back until condition of course improves.
Always great to play here
Pace of play is usually very good. Course is well maintained, although the tee boxes are a little shabby right now. Staff, as always is friendly and accommodating.
Poor shape
This course track is great. Usually in good shape. Don’t know what happened this summer. Crab grass overgrown on most tee boxes. Greens slow as crap. Fungus on some greens. Fairways aren’t what they used to be. Not even in the top 20 public courses on Long Island right now

Great course; greens just a little off.
The course was in very good condition and "green" all around, but the the actual greens were a bit worn and did not roll as well as they would under better conditions. I suppose the hot summer affected them. But the tee boxes and fairways were fine. Pace of play was amazing for a Friday afternoon... never waited. Recommend riding if the weather is hot, as the course has a lot of elevation change and walkers will get wiped out quickly in hot weather.
This course is a good practice course.
The golfnow compete is off for each hole so it is hard to keep track
When I booked Tee time, I have cart included. No cart for us due to rain, I saw
many carts running around. We walked with pullingcart . I still enjoyed the game.
Greens making Sunken Meadow look fast
2nd time playing and came with 3 friends. Great price and came with carts. Pace of play was really slow. There’s no excuse to be having 3 groups waiting at a tee box. We saw the ranger multiple times and was wondering what he was doing bc it sure wasn’t speeding up pace of play. Greens were horrible. I didn’t know I was playing fall golf. Also they’re were really slow today. So slow they make Sunken Meadow greens look fast. Still a good day though and staff is super friendly. Hopefully next time the greens are much better to putt on.
Hello, Jimmy. Thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to apologize for the delay of play during your round. Please know that this is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Value Deal
This time was much better overall. Especially for the cost of it all. The staff are amazing. Super friendly and get you excited to play. Greens were still a little ruff but getting better.

SLOW GREENS !!!
Greens way too slow for this time of the year.
C'mon staff. Drop the blade.

Good Time, need better grounds
It was a beautiful day and staff was very friendly but the grounds really weren't that good. The debris from the storm was cleaned up and moved which was nice but the greens, fairways & tee boxes were in terrible shape. Not because of damage from the storm but it seems like lack of care. Divots everywhere, burned grass, crab grass, thick patches and then thin patches. It was a great time but it was a little rough (pun intended).
Hi, thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Usually in good condition
The course is a little bit dry. It's usually a little more lush.
