Tight course
Course is very tight, short but, very challenging. Greens were fast but, did need some work. Overall a nice Saturday afternoon.
Very narrow course
Good condition. Greens have some sort of fungus growing on them but ran pretty smooth. Very tight course but a good iron challenging course
Tightest fairways in the land.
This is a great course, but incredibly challenging. They've put a lot of capital into the course in the past year or two and its starting to show. The fairways are narrow and often sloped, either side of which is perhaps a small rough, and then woods. On many of the holes; if you hit the woods, your ball is lost. Most bunkers have been completely redone, prior posts mentioned them as terrible (and they were at the time). Fantastic pro for lessons. Members tend to be older.
Hope they fix it up and price it realistically. It could be a nice place.
Polite staff. Decent greens. Landscaping around the clubhouse, restaurant and parking lot in need of cleanup. Also many of the bunkers in poor condition. Not a good value as is. Hilly, narrow and short.
Tricky Track
Lots of shot positioning needed on this relatively tight course. Bunkers are in poor shape and are supposedly being fixed at the end of this season. Pretty layout and fast greens. Also, nice grill on the 18th green for lunch. I've played here a lot and will be back for more. I'm a 9 hcp btw.
Don't spend your money to play until they spend some of there money to fix it up...
Every sand trap was in very very bad condition , as well were the greens... Cart paths were very bad and a danger to riders. I will not go back ..if I was a member, this would be my last membership until all fixed up... Members now have no bragging rights this year....
Course not in good shape
I was disappointed with Somers West course. The sand traps are in horrible shape and calling them dirt traps is more appropriate. Brown scorched areas to fairway, greens appeared to be moldy. The course has potential and if was in good shape would be a nice course but in the condition it is in now I would not play it again.
Traps unkempt
Overall course was in very good shape, but the traps are 90-95% earth and mostly overgrown with weeds and crabgrass. As luck would have it only landed in one trap where my ball rested atop of clump of crabgrass so it was an easy release.
Too Narrow
I was excited when I arrived because the course looked beautiful and the price was great. However my excitement quickly turned to frustration. The course is simply too narrow and too gimmicky. Lots of 90 degree dog legs and extremely narrow fairways. I lost 12 balls, many of which barely missed the fairway and rolled deep into unkept areas. The greens were challenging and fast and fun to play on. I would not return.
Fun Course
Was was in great condition. I played late afternoon and the temperature was 95. Not many preple out on the course. It was fun to play with no waiting or somebody pushing.
Staf was very nice, locker rooms were clean.
disappointed
1- you can not call the course on the phone it says out of service no matter what number you use-2. sand traps were in very poor shape.3.could use some signs on the course indicting yardage and where the next hole is(9 to hole 10) .)FOR EXample. over all it could be a great course with some effort put into it.it not a course for beginers - bring alot of balls
Bunkers were not maintained well
The overall course is ok.. just the Bunkers are terrible.. hardly can see the sands.. they should do better job on that..
Nice
Beautiful course, nice views, challenging and narrow. Set your GPS. Markers are pretty much non existent and there are no rangers on the course so play can get a little slow. But overall we liked the course and will go back.
too long to pay this course
this course needs a ranger on the course to reduce the time it takes to play he course. there was a 5 some afew groups before us that seemed to hold the whole golf course up. the signize was very lacking .
Exceptional
I've played this course almost 20 times now and yesterday 5/8/15 was the best round I've played. The conditions were phenomenal, not to mention 18 holes and a cart for 26 dollars can't beat that. Awesome course very narrow, shot makers course for sure tests every club in the bag!!!
Blessed
Great overall conditions, some greens had some frost damage due to the winter, give it 2 weeks course will be prime...shoot an 79 and let me know ;)
Long wait!
While I wasn't crazy about the layout (quite narrow), the course was in fine condition, the staff was helpful, and the amenities seemed very nice. But finishing 9 holes after three and one quarter hours was very unfortunate, even on a Sunday. I can certainly understand the round will always be longer on a weekend, but I know that the foursome ahead of us called the clubhouse early in the round regarding the "problem foursome" in front of them, apparently without success. Disappointing. My buddy and I left after 9 holes, and believe me when I tell you that is something we would never imagine doing after working hard all week. Oh well...
Nice course.
Enjoyed our round but some of the greens
were diseased.
Great Value, Lacking Amenities
First time visiting the West Course and the facility as a whole and it really was in excellent condition (Minus some rough looking bunkers, but it had rained a couple days before) and the staff was friendly and helpful. The course itself makes you think a lot more about club selection, and I used my driver only 3 times the entire round. At times the holes do get a little gimmicky, but overall I found it more enjoyable to think about my next shot placement over a grip and rip mentality. The only knock I'd give is that food/drink was literally non-existent. Nothing could be purchased by us in the club house, and every vending machine on the course was out of service. Coupled with no food/drink cart making the rounds, on a hot day, it was a little disappointing. Otherwise a nice place that I'm sure we will return to.
traps are all redone!
