one of the better county courses
When the course is maintained it is the best for value. Has some challenging holes. Its early in the season and it needs to grow in. The staff is the friendliest in the county. Good 19th hole.
Course needs work
Mohansic is a county course in need of repair. The lay out is good and some very challanging holes. The pace of play was slow due to a couple of foursomes that spent a lot of time searching for balls, especially after the beers kicked in. did not see a ranger all day. If you are looking for a course to warm up on this place works. Greens were in good shape and surprisingly quick.
Great Course, Okay Staff
The course is a long time favorite course of mine. Course is always maintained and well groomed, and renovated when necessary in a timely manner.
The Pro Shop staff could be friendlier and more welcoming to customers.
Overall a good experience every time, once you get to the starter.
Great hometown course
Course requires accurate shots to hit fairways. Greens are usually on the faster side, which you never want to be behind the pin at this course. Good scoring opportunity on many holes as risk vs reward comes into play. The first hole is a fun par 4 which could be reached with a good drive over the left side trees or a nice draw over the fairway. The second hole is "the barn hole," another par 4 which a nice shot over the "barn" will leave you with a good 60 yards out of the green. Hole 3 could be quite a headache and a bogey hole for a shorter hitter. Watch out for the "fox"(a fox decoy to prevent geese from eating grass) that protects the seeded area off the right side of the fairway. The 4th hole is one of my favorites, taking a risk here will reward you very well. Its a 442 par 4. If you cut the fairway over the trees on the left side with a nice fade you are about 100 yards uphill to the green for your approach. Hole 5 is a par three where you want to stay in front of the pin no matter what the days location is. The 6th Hole is a great hole as well. A nice 225 yard shot off the tee will keep you on flat ground for your approach, as you want to be in front of the pin again on this hole because everything roles down and to the woods on the right. The 7th hole is a fun par 3 downhill over water. The 8th is a very well designed hole as long hitters will find that hitting driver off the tee will only result in trouble. A good shot will put you in a good position for your approach, just watch out for all the wet ground in front of the 150 marker. This green slopes very fast back to front, where many three putts have been made! The 9th hole 592 yard par 5 could easily play over 625 on windy days, which makes scoring on the par 5 10th a must. The 11th is a straight forward par 4 with green protected by hard sand bunkers. The 12th is a fun down hill par 4, but be careful on days with rain because the green doesn't run off too well. One of the trickest Par 3's in the county is number 13 which plays at 208 yards over a valley slightly uphill. Very easy to miss the green and come up short if club selection isn't correct. The 14th and 15th Par 4's are very easy to hit double bogey on as 14th is a downhill dogleg right. A good drive will get you to the 150 marker, but I've seen many shoot out-of-bounds into the 15th fairway. 15 is an uphill par 4 that requires an accurate tee shot to make for an easier approach as the ground is not very flat. Another good scoring opportunity comes on the 16th and 17th hole. The 16th green is protected by bunkers which a poor approach shot could land you in. The 17th is a perfect chance to clinch birdie before heading to the bunker protected 180 yard par 3 18th. I absolutely love golfing here and walking provides you with a unique experience. A perfect course for the beginner to the advanced player. Skip in the club house is a great instructor and I would highly recommend This is my hometown course will continue to golf here for years to come.
for a public course, well run and maintained and reasonably priced.
nice course would reccomend wheather walking or riding.
MISSING RANGER
I went to play this course before the winter cold air arrived. I arrived at the course a little early. The staff complained about the fact golf now didn't update the tee time. The group I played with were very nice. During the first couple of holes the ranger was out but after that he was invisible. The group in front of us took their time with every hole causing the group behind us to catch upto us. (THEY WERE ON TOP OF US) But the course still had a little work to be done.
Best Westchester County course
While often crowded, mohansic is the best of the county courses. Decent amenities including a small driving range along with an interesting layout. The course includes reachable par5s and long par 4's that force you to use every club in the bag. Some very tough greens especially the 8th were you need to be below the hole are suffer the 3 putt.
Nice layout
Would play it again. Good value for the cost. In great
condition.
Course has great holes in nice sloping forrest/park set-up. Best training facilities among county courses.
Mohansic is recommendable both for design and surroundings. maintenace is fine, above most county courses. staff, particularly in restaurant is super-friendly. Training facilities are very good and ample including bunker and chippiong areas.
Loved the course,,try to play it a few times during season.
