About Ka'anapali Golf Resorts (Maui)
Ka'anapali is a resort development in the west Maui town of Lahaina. It is home to two golf courses, Royal Ka'anapali and Ka'anapali Kai, as well as a number of beachfront hotel and condominium properties that offer stay-and-play golf packages. Ka'anapali is a three-mile stretch of beach with 13 places to stay and 45 restaurants. Hotel brands include the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, Aston Maui Ka'anapali Villas, Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui Eldorado Ka'anapali by Outrigger, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, Aston at The Whaler on Ka'anapali Beach, Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort, Spa & Residence Club and Ka'napali Royal. The beaches are famous for stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, sailing, parasailing, sunset dinners and whale watching. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the famous Royal Ka'anapali Golf Club in 1962 and the shorter Ka'anapali Kai course was added later.Facts

Maui Sunshine
Played two days after heavy rain. Course mostly recovered other than wet bunkers. Greens very fast even affected by brisk winds. Fun day, would play again.
Nice track
Well maintained and good conditions.
I don’t think the greens were cut/rolled the day we played so they were a little bumpy and inconsistent.
The lack of any sort of on-course refreshment (whether alcohol or not) was perhaps the biggest disappointment. We got very hungry and thirsty by the end.
The staff was super friendly.

Consistently a great experience
This is a favorite course for us on Maui, and it was excellent once again. Pace of play was good, course condition was good, and staff were friendly and helpful!

Fun course!
Played this 3 times on our visit to Maui. It’s a fun course to play and the pace of play is good. Outside staff is good. The older women in the pro shop is horrible. She talks over people, is extremely rude and unhelpful. . Would be nice to have a beverage cart on course or bigger coolers to accommodate more beverages. It can be extremely hot on the course and you don't go back to the clubhouse until hole 18. No on course snack shack either.

Overpriced, Horrible Operations
Not worth the money at all. They haven't had an on course liquor license for 14 months. Mats at the fairway. Course is on the windiest part of the island. Pretty unenjoyable golf experience.

I’m 65 and could reach most par 4s in two shots
Way easier than Royal
Sand traps need some work, more sand!
Great course and Staff!
Had a great time, beautiful course and super-friendly and helpful staff! Only issue was a foursome in front of us who were ridiculously slow, the Marshall pushed them as best as he could so that helped. Would play there again in a heartbeat!
Great resort course
Royal course was in great shape. Pace of play was good for a resort course. We will play again next time we are in Kaanapali.

Greens are Ridiculous!
The greens are ridiculous. Should not have a resort course with greens that are that tricky. A Putt should not go straight and then break 90 degrees at the last 18” to the hole for not obvious reason.

Great views and well bunkered greens for a resort course.
They course is fun and was in pretty good shape except for a good par 4 they turned into a par 3 for no apparent reason. I can’t believe a Maui course does not have covers for the clubs if it rains. Also very limited cart service. They don’t even give you a bottle of water. Great views and well bunkered greens made up for the other short comings. Staff in the pro shop so so. Guys on the course and in the cart barn were very friendly.

The Royal
I found the fairways generous sizes, bunkers in good condition, and the greens tough to putt at times. Navigating the wind made the course play tough but fair. If you enjoy a challenge this is the course for you especially from the blue tees. Mahalo!

Fun course- but some improvements needed
Was disappointing to have 7th hole tee box under repair and have a hokey tee box making it so short and no effort to make tee box even decent. Should not be paying full price with one entire hole basically useless. Would like to see beverage cart with beer or drinks available.
Other than that in very good shape, great views and fun course to play.

As it is, it's still a very challenging uphill par 3 with a 3-tiered green and 5 bunkers protecting the green.
