About Ka'anapali Golf Resorts (Maui)

Ka'anapali is a resort development in the west Maui town of Lahaina. It is home to two golf courses, Royal Ka'anapali and Ka'anapali Kai, as well as a number of beachfront hotel and condominium properties that offer stay-and-play golf packages. Ka'anapali is a three-mile stretch of beach with 13 places to stay and 45 restaurants. Hotel brands include the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas, Aston Maui Ka'anapali Villas, Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui Eldorado Ka'anapali by Outrigger, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, Aston at The Whaler on Ka'anapali Beach, Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Marriott's Maui Ocean Club, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort, Spa & Residence Club and Ka'napali Royal. The beaches are famous for stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, sailing, parasailing, sunset dinners and whale watching. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the famous Royal Ka'anapali Golf Club in 1962 and the shorter Ka'anapali Kai course was added later.

Definitely Play

My expectations probably were low after reading some of the reviews, but I was impressed with this course.

The condition of the course was exceptional. The course itself was mediocre, but playable for people of all handicaps. There isn’t much trouble to get into and the greens were definitely not fast.

No beverage cart.. grrr. Apparently they don’t have an on course license…. In a 100% hospitality area seems sort of crazy..

If you are in doubt if it is worth the money, don’t worry it is.

Conditions were good and most of the course is visible from the tee. Greens were quick and rolled true, but pins were cut into the slopes making it tough to hole putts. Bunkers had good sand, but tended to plug if you hit near the edges. Course could be brutally tough with heavy winds. Range is too short to hit longer clubs. No beverage cart on the course. Shop staff was less than helpful, but the starter was personable. Overall, it was a good experience and the views are amazing! Fortunate to have found a good discount on GolfNow and been paired up with good people.

Maui Sunshine

Played two days after heavy rain. Course mostly recovered other than wet bunkers. Greens very fast even affected by brisk winds. Fun day, would play again.

Nice track

Well maintained and good conditions.

I don’t think the greens were cut/rolled the day we played so they were a little bumpy and inconsistent.

The lack of any sort of on-course refreshment (whether alcohol or not) was perhaps the biggest disappointment. We got very hungry and thirsty by the end.

The staff was super friendly.

Fun course!

Played this 3 times on our visit to Maui. It’s a fun course to play and the pace of play is good. Outside staff is good. The older women in the pro shop is horrible. She talks over people, is extremely rude and unhelpful. . Would be nice to have a beverage cart on course or bigger coolers to accommodate more beverages. It can be extremely hot on the course and you don't go back to the clubhouse until hole 18. No on course snack shack either.

Overpriced, Horrible Operations

Not worth the money at all. They haven't had an on course liquor license for 14 months. Mats at the fairway. Course is on the windiest part of the island. Pretty unenjoyable golf experience.

Great course and Staff!

Had a great time, beautiful course and super-friendly and helpful staff! Only issue was a foursome in front of us who were ridiculously slow, the Marshall pushed them as best as he could so that helped. Would play there again in a heartbeat!
